I'm on an iPhone 4S and it says I cannot connect to the iTunes Store when I try to update?

I tested this for Waldo and it happened on my iPad 1. When I tried to log in it made me update and now won't finish downloading from store.

I can't. I tried downloading other apps to check but I can't update or download anything. I restarted router and iPad 3 times to make sure. Nothing works
