I personally purchased my Nexus 7, 16gb tablet on 9/25/2012. TBH I have never been happier with a tablet, Many have experienced android on even more devices but untill you see it operate in its pure vanilla state you might as well call it something else. As im sure many of us were, I was pretty upset at the fact that google would dare release a new tablet (or variation of the tablet) so soon after it original launch and it felt like a big slap in the face. I like many Nexus users across the world have been holding our breath in the hopes that something would be done to make this "right" with their loyal customers. Well, Its after ASUS made the first step last week and issued customers in the UK a $25 credit. google has finally dragged there feet around to make it right for everyone. This week it was announced that they would be issueing a $49 credit to anyone that purchased a 16g on or before the date of 10/14/12.

I read this and got hope....

Even though I was 2 weeks before the cut off and the retailer was still selling the nexus at its $249 price point, I decided to call the retailer that I purchased the Tablet from (Kmart) and inquire what could be done. Well After a good hour on the phone (most of it on hold...lol) I finally made it past the customer care representitive to the ticket specialist, SUCCESS!! The customer rep explained the situation in about a minute and without skipping a beat the ticket specialist said they could make that happen?!?!?! I was so happy and still am... TBH its not about the $50 bucks im getting back but its about that fact they made it right.

I am writing this to let you all know that you can, if you play your cards right (and are polite about it) also get a refund if you recently bought a nexus 7. If you are beyond the protection policy with google then try the retailer you purchased it from, And if you bouhgt it from Goofle then hey... maybe they will help you out? Its worth a shot... not many other ways you can make $50 bucks an hour..... unless...? well ill never go back to stripping..lol

We have some good news today for the multiple readers that purchased Google’s awesome Nexus 7 tablet late last month, only to find out on the 29th that Google dropped the price of the 16GB tablet $49 dollars. Earlier today we reported ASUS giving out vouchers, and it looks like Google will be doing the same or better for their customers. This is extremely good news.

Google has introduced a “Price Protection” model for devices in the Google Play Store. For those who aren’t keeping track at home the 16GB Nexus 7 was $249 and on October 29th Google announced it would replace the 8GB model and cost only $199. I’d be pretty upset if I recently bought the 16GB model, and a few days later it’s $50 less. So today they are reassuring customers that they’ll refund that money.

“If we reduce the price of a device on Google Play, we’ll refund the difference in price if your purchase occurred within 15 days of said price reduction.”

As you can see above, this is clearly aimed at all those 16GB Nexus 7 purchases. If you bought the Nexus 7 from Google on or after October 14th, you’re eligible for a refund of the difference in price. Most likely Staples, Office Depot, and other retail stores offer something similar and we’d recommend you give it a try.

If you are one of the many who purchased the Nexus 7 16GB in that time frame, be sure to hit the source link below and follow the instructions and request a price protection refund. We have a feeling the Galaxy Nexus might be getting a price drop soon too, so this should also cover that should you run into the same circumstances. Enjoy the $50 refund folks!
