View Full Version : Can we get a clear explanation on how elemental damage works?

I don’t think it’s quite clear exactly how this feature works. I initially thought it only works on certain mobs but now I see that it works everywhere. According to a dev post it can be increased by elemental damage boost ONLY (see below) but people have claimed that it stacks alongside stat boosts and other damage boosts. This stack is the reason why bio beast set is so useful in elite hedourah. However for some reason it doesn’t work with warrior’s ultimate. There’s just too many inconsistencies that I think should be cleared up especially since the shadow and cosmic sets have been released

Also on this note, how exactly does the new cursewood gem works. It says +10 elemental damage. What does that mean? I’m so lost on how that works, does it just add 10 elemental damage on top of the elemental dmg that you do? Does it scale up based on other factors? I kind of have a grasp on the + %elemental dmg, but I’m lost on these new gems.

True, at first I also thought it works only in certains mobs, but looking at bio procs killing bosses like orrick and hydra, that's not the case.
Based on that, now I think it works everywhere and is a common damage, the difference would just be that some mobs are resistant to certain types of damage, so if a mob has x% resistance to nature, cosmic shadow and our common damage are better to deal with that mob, and if a mob has x% resistance to our common damage, then all elemental damages would work better on that.
Remembering that this is just my current thought about it..
Looking forward for a dev explanation.

Elemental damage is damage that ignores armor and is only affected by damage reduction and resistance to elemental damage( nature, shadow, cosmic resist).
It does damage to every type of enemy, but if they have a high resistance to elemental damage, damage will be low.

It is affected by damage multipliers(boss damage, elite damage, damage, crit damage and elemental damage stat and elemental damage%), but to my knowledge not by stat%. I put all points into str on mage and still did the same dmg with my bio set. This would also explain why warrior ultimate has no effect on it.

Elemental damage stat is what the new gems give you. 10 damage for one of the three elemental damage types. One of the goblin stones also gave 5% more nature damage. This is basically the replacement for stat jewels, because they won't do a lot for you in this set.
10 damage from gem might sound low with the tens of millions damage we do, but full bio set gives you 90 nature damage, with the amulet proc giving some more and it does significant damage.
Hope this might help some, but I 100% agree, that some more info by devs would've been nice.

Thank you for this! The screenshot above was definitely misleading. It’s good to know what actually helps it. So does the +10 Elemental damage work similar to like a +5 damage (from passive for example)? Not accounting for stats, could we theoretically get the same damage boost if I have a +10 elemental damage gem and a +10 normal damage gem.

On a side note devs can we please have this valuable info when you’re introducing new OP mechanics. It’s like pulling teeth to get a bit of description out of yall ;-;.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkYe from my understanding elemental % and elemental stat work like damage% and dmg stat. The difference is that you get dmg stat from gear, primary and secondary stat as well, while element damage only comes from these pieces and gems. So a +10 damage elemental gem is better.

If this true then changing ur mage main stat to str should lower the damage dealt of the bio proc bc main stat also increase damage and you said bio proc affected by damage.

He means bio is affected by damage MULTIPLIERS. Int ADDS/GIVES mage more damage. It doesn’t MULTIPLY the damage they already have.
