confused on hauntlet

I just ran the hauntlet for the first time... but got no coins? How do I actually get the coins?

There are two quests which give you 1 Hauntlet coin per day, one from the NPC in Kraag next to the cannons, and another from the NPC inside the Hauntlet. To get more Hauntlet coins besides these, you need to complete the Hauntlet dungeon AND run to the exit of the third area within 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Each completion within this time limit yields you one Hauntlet coin.

I'm new myself but from my understanding there are 3 ways to get coins. Two daily quests, once for completing the instance and another for destroying 12 cannons. There are 6 cannons in each run so you'd have to run it twice to complete that quest. Once the daily quests are done you get a coin for each time you run it in under 3min 30seconds.
