View Full Version : Lag and reconnect killing hardcore

Many hardcore players including myself started to see reconnect more often recently. My hardcore toon died to lag several months ago and realizing it may happen again definitely doesn't encourage playing hardcore mode.

While neither a player nor devs can guarantee a stable network connection there's one thing that devs probably can do about that.

So here's the suggestion: let the server boot a player from a pve map after some short (ideally configurable) timeout if connection is lost instead of keeping the character unattended and most likely killed.

Sorry, no plans to do this. We don't control the internet nor your connection to it. Hardcore is play at your own risk.

Thanks for checking this thread!

I acknowledged that Internet connectivity is out of control for either side. No questions about that.

However, the server side definitely can track when last packet of data was received from the client and take an action on inactivity timeout. I am a software engineer myself so I know what I am talking about.

Look, a typical hardcore player spends way more on crates and other stuff behind paywall than on revive so revive fee alone is just a small fraction of total spend.
Furthermore, many who die to lag just give up and rage quit because it is really demotivating and unfair experience as it is not player's fault.

So in my view protecting hardcore players from sudden disconnects is win-win - they stay alive longer (happy player) and keep buying plats (happy Cinco :) ).

Please reconsider this, thanks!
