Both are good. Dex mage is more fun IMO, but paladin has better survivability. Paladin is also good for beginners in PvP (dex mages can do well too but take more practice).

there is no best combination of anything. it is based on personal prefenrence and what you want to maxiimize.
personally, i would say dex mage, since it kills the fastest.

dex mage is more fun but if you don't want to die a lot, then paladin is better.

Dex Mage if your a stand in one place and shoot, paly if you like chasing your targ as it's bounced around, peace to the tank bears :)

J/king it's your pref I have played both and love both, but paly ftw, imo.

I like pally more, true that you have to move around more, but you get much higher defence bonuses and somewhat better equipment (my own opinion). Also, thoth gear is much more cheaper for str than dex (take for instance the talon compared to spear). Pallys also are normally better off in pvp. ;P

well, for a str mage aka PALADIN- 142str 86int or 142str 81dex
differences, into dex = better change of getting a hit while attacking with melee weap. into int= painful skills, as now skill are stats driven-

if u need a paladin guide of str&int refer to VS'
http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?6945-Violentsaint-s-battlemage-paladin-build-(from-lvl-40-45)

additional info
http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?8223-INT-mage-or-Paladin
and marked that its 142str or 142int. not 145(:

dex mage aka Ninja mage- 142dex??(needs to be comfirm) 87int
u will have about 130% hit chance and also painful skills, due to the int into it and that skills are stats driven-
