This is in the stable in the middle of the ones you can earn from companion quest rewards. Maybe it's for a quest that hasn't been added yet? The description only says it prefers forested areas which to me implies a random drop across several maps, but the drop rate has to be broken if that's the case.

Alejandro egg is UBER-RARE. The devs said that they'll change the drop rate because Alejandro is too hard to find.

It was rare, in fact I'm pretty sure it didn't exist before the expansion. Now it's pretty common since you can get it from Klaas.
