In case some of you noobs don't know what DotA is, it's were there are two bases, and you control a champion on a side. while the bases spawn and send minions to each other, you are what break the balance by killing off enemy minions and defenses, and if you can even the enemy champions. The objective is to destroy the enemy's base. simple. also the farther into the enemy base you get to and destroy, the stronger your minions get too.

This would be sick/awesome, even if modified.

That would be awesome, yet also kind of copying the DotA idea. Maybe we could have a contest to see who can design the best new game mode.

The genre has been named MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena). There are now two new games which are thriving, called League of Legends (free to play) and Heroes of Newerth (box game). Both are great!

I started playing DOTA back in like... 2004 on Reign of Chaos. I played for the past 6 years, just recently quit. However, I don't want to see such a great game's mechanics be destroyed on the iphone/ipad =)

make it a simple version, not with all the item combos and all the skill strategies... for PL make it periodic groups of mobs (in red and blue team) moving towards a location through 1-3 separate corridors. you go in, kick some around, and hope a pally doesn't come down your corridor to finish off you mob wall. then just have some stationary ranged boss at either end and whoever kills other's boss wins.

well u get no points or exp for killing the mob-walls, they are there to help keep a offensive tide or start a defensive push. by design, there shouldn't be more than 2 minions left of any given side after both walls face each other unaided by the actual player.

too good to let die. could even be a campaign scenario to switch things up a bit, where you help a losing army win back a towne... i call that un-rushable.

P= powerup: random from extra damage, armor, speed, regen, semi-invisibility (as in you wont see him straight away, kinda blurred out but still targetable if you have a good eye)

mheh i hear heroes of newerth is better and more hardcore anyway, that has a mac version even if it needs to be paid for.

eh but you gain the better players since they want to play a better game. Its all a balance. At least thats what i hear from reviews, HON is more refined and hardcore... etc.
