Hi guys, this may seem like a silly question but I am wondering how much data does playing Arcane Legends on a mobile use?

A friend of mine wants to play on his android device with the 3g and is scared that it will eat through his bandwith..He has 2g

Me too! I have 500mb/s allowed. I'd love to know if playing AL takes more?

Data usage is <1k/second at the height of combat.

so 60K/ minute = ~3.5 megs/ hour.

That means if I use it while on DATA, i'll pay :(. I'm 500mb/s!

Correct me if I am wrong but if we assume 3.5mb/hr it would take 142hours to use up your 500mb. Certainly a person could play for that long (4.73hours per day x 30 days), but if you play some on wifi, you should be safe to at least play some on your data.

And something to keep in mind when you're thinking about complaining about no rotating camera (all that landscape would have to add to the data load, even if it isn't drawn entirely every second)

I don't. I prefer that way.

I don't think that's how it works. The data for the artwork and graphics is already stored on the device as part of the application, I believe.

Looks like I'm using about 100mb a week for this game on mobile data. I use wifi and my Nexus 7 while at home. If you're only going to use mobile data, you'll be cutting it awfully close over a month of use once you account for all of the other stuff that accesses your data.

anyone notice after the recent patch, data consumption is a LOT higher? I'm talking like 30mb per hr

I don't know about AL, but PL uses very little data. I used to play on 3g for 2-3 hours per night and at the end of the month I didn't even use 500mb. I think it's because all the graphics are local on your device and all that is being loaded is combinations and information. The game is kind of like a Mr. Potato Head in a certain sense. All the graphical parts are loaded on your device, and they just put different parts together in different combinations to make the game happen. It's not actual video and sound loading, which are the only things that really use big bandwidth.

The maps at least are already there. That's why when you have a ping spike, all the other players and enemies appear to freeze, but you can still move around.

I have unlimited 4G LTE :) I can play forever, you should upgrade your plan. But it does eat battery life..

It doesn't use very much data at all, so as long as you have a plan that allows 1gb+ per month, you will be fine. Apparently all of the graphics and sound files are local on your device, so the only thing being transmitted is location and event data, not that actual graphics or sounds.

I only play on mobile if I have no network connection on my PC or if there is no PC with net connection available.

However, If playing by mobile net is your only option, I suggest know your "daily quests" time and your "Ally klaas /shazbot" times. By doing that, you could compress all your farming/boss hunt/questing time in about 2 hrs or so.

I use wifi on AL, but last year when I used to play PL I didn't have wifi so I used to play 2-3 hours per day on cellular and at the end of the month my total usage was less than 500 MB. I assume AL has similar data usage to PL.

In the 3rd post in this thread, Justg said it uses 3.5 MB per hour. That means 100 hours would be 350 MB. 100 hours in a month would be 3+ hours per day. If you have 2 GB, that means you could use 5 times that much and still be fine.

Did you download the app? That initial download with all the updates is probably a good chunk of that. Also, did you download other apps? Apps take up quite a bit of space.

so 60K/ minute = ~3.5 megs/ hour.

3.5 mb per hour with 3g?
