How do you earn XP? Is It through kills or damage or something else and if so how much per kill or vise versa? And does it vary by enemy or area? Does elite effect XP gain? Idk???

It is per kill. I can confirm that you get 2 exp per kill in Ydra Forest just as you get 2 exp per kill in Kraag 3. Other zones may give different exp per kill.
*Kraag and Watcher's have high concentrations of enemies per zone, which is why they are the favorite place to level from 15 to 16.
