Platinum in locked crates

In good old days locked crates could drop a small amount of plat occasionally. That was helpful sometimes.

Can we have it back instead of junk items that modern crates are full of?

We probably won't do this now that you can open locked crates with Crate Keys.

Not sure how keys are factored in here. It is not possible to make a profit this way ie get more plat than plat/keys spent to pop locked crates. Maybe if opened just few crates and got lucky but that's rare.
Also keys come into existence because someone spent plat to buy them.

Its true that someone spent plat for the keys, but i could farm gold, buy keys and open lockeds to get platinum, and use those platinums for my hardcore for example, i think they dont want this.

I see those plat drops as an incentive to pop more crates rather than the way to convert gold into plat.
