I think it would be cool to have a central guild bank where guild members could donate gold and platinum to the bank which can be used to buy things for the clan (guild hall, xp boost, etc.). Give me some feedback on how you like or don't like this idea.

Or the gm takes it and runs off after disbanding the guild. No thanks. Besides, STS doesn't want the headache of trying to mediate between a guild and a former member who wants their stuff back. While this idea has some good points, the bad far outweigh them and it won't happen.

Not exactly. They could make it where the bank is non transferable once put in the bank. Also if a guild is disbanded all the platinum would be lost. It's a simple task.

So the guild master wouldn't be able to withdraw from the gold donated?

If they cannot, and the GM decides to disband the guild, then that's money down the drain, and the GM should be able to access it to be able to give it back or use it.

If they can, then there's room for corruption, as the GM could withdraw it all, or gradually take from it and claim he never touched it.

Either way, there's a lot of room for abuse of this, and while the honor system is effective in a lot of guilds, it isn't always.
