bows/guns

Hello!
Can anybody tell me what's the biggest difference in guns and bows? It seems that guns are weaker etc. But on the other hand, you get them in higher lvls, so they could be good. I just can't get the point of guns..

Gun = longest range but weakest damage compare to xbow/bow, correct me if im wrong.
