With no pet:
Current Equips:
Weapon: Frozen Sentinel of Will- Low on DPS but really great Armor
Helmet: Agile Berserker of Will
Armor: Agile Berserker of Savvy
Ring: Onyx Band of Security OR Glowstone Hoop of Savvy- Which takes away 23 Armor to add 54 HP
Necklace: Mystic Necklace of Force(5 str, 18 DEX, 1.27crit) OR Mithril Chain of Assault (16str, 8 DEX, 2.8 DMG)
*Might switch to Mithril chain, adds a lot of great stats for the decrease of only the dodge. Seems pretty good.*

Ps. I'm using Reggin's tank build, so I pretty much would like feedback from him.

A rogue might faint by looking at ur dps.

On a serious note, nice armor =) good tank build.

Lol Ik the weapon sucks, but high on armor. What can I say? :( At my Lvl with barely any cash, it's useful.

looking at ur armour i suggest u use rally cry instead of jug nd also it gives buff to whole party. thus making it a real tank :-)

I am going to buy plat soon, to create a rogue toon and on top of that respec the skill points, most of it will consist of Reggins's build but I might swap jugg for rally cry as you suggested. Just to give it a try.

What gear are you using? Your health seems quite low. Armor is solid. Dodge could be a bit higher.

Updated, check out my gear ^_^ Pretty sure it isn't the best, but it darn sure isn't the worst :D

Can you post I without the pet, so I can see the true stats? It would help me a lot better. (Also becaus I don't have that pet.. Lol)

Reggin
01-03-2013, 08:38 AM
Here it is with no pet, though my pet only gives 15 str and 10 dex. So I lose 180 health and .5% dodge.

Reggin
01-03-2013, 09:13 AM
Here's my exact gear by the way... all level 20 pinks and less than 100k gold spent for the entire set.

Avalanche Veil of Will - 23 str 12 int 104 armor

Agile Berserker Helmet of Will - 25 dex 13 int 335 armor

Agile Berserker Armor of Savvy - 25 dex 9 int 1.94% dodge 460 armor

Runic Ring of Grace - 25 str 9 dex 1.94% dodge

Brilliant Bauble of Grace - 25 str 9 dex 1.94% dodge

Reggin
01-03-2013, 09:18 AM
In a perfect world where I had the time to actually have lots of gold, I would use the health and armor heavy juggernaut set, the same sword/shield, and the jewelry that adds 25 str 9 int 1.94% dodge. Would up my armor considerably, my health considerably, reduce my mana by 40, and my dodge by about 4%.

I still favor armor and health over dodge because it is pure reduction and health, but a dodge build was in my budget and my survivability is still quite impressive.

Ash... why does your dps gear have higher dodge and health than your tank gear?

Ashanto
01-03-2013, 12:58 PM
It's due to the loss of STR and DEX when switching to a Tanking Armor weapon. I need to itemize the rest of my gear better but am doing testing right now to figure out the proper balance.

I've been testing all night and having atleast 850 Armor 3k HP is more than enough for any Elite or mob pull in game. Using your 4 taunts plus my white damage high DPS causes much more threat than lower DPS and high armor/hp/dodge. Jugg and Horn more than make up for any big hits that a 100 more armor or 4% more dodge can do.

I love your build. I removed healing range from Horn but added damage to Axe Throw. I did this because a mage/rogue who does range DPS and pulls a mob off me should be smart enough to run towards me so that I can taunt without moving boss or the full pack of mobs. The range adds nothing to Taunt/Threat generation but the 15% damage increase to Axe Throw does increase Threat Generation. Using a DPS sword that procs a 100% crit chance is much better than a sword/shield that adds more armor that is wasted after 850 armor.

I teamed up with another tank since you werent around and he was in full Tank gear and your spec. He couldn't pull anything off me even with all 4 Taunts(he had 80DPS and 1000 armor with 2800HP and 8% dodge). Yes my DPS gear can be higher, but then I would lose too much Armor/HP/Dodge for only 10 more DPS with top DPS gear in game.

My only drawback is lack of Mana. I either need to pot for mana or use Nexus. I choose Nexus for Arcane Mana Flood, plus a bit of DPS/HP/Dodge and damage reduction. Best pet in game for a Balanced Tank.

Looking at all the builds, Reggin, your build looks awesome for PvP. Since PvP most likely wouldn't be in continuous fighting fashion (Re spawning times etc.), mana wouldn't be a problem. The con though is the lack of damage. Could you optimize a build that gives nice dodge and armor YET gives damage?

Nice tanks guys, but I prefer koko for the extra arm, int pool and dodge chance. Mana might be a little problem, but since you can make easy money in this game, imho, I'm using mana pots when I'm running out of mana every time, and I'm not a saver. Got nearly 15% dodge with koko, and the best things is, when someone is in a party with malison. Nice dodge ftw.

u all should get glowstone hoop of warfare(dmg) or
glowstone hoop of fitness(armour)
nd glowstone necklace of warfare or fitness
bt i prefer ring to b warfare nd necklace to b fitness.
these r lvl20 pinks.
u may also use ensorcerolled band lvl21 ring

Ken... not sure what you ran or how you used the build, but playing it aggressively won't hold aggro. Friend me in game and I'll show you how to use it at lunch. Nice stats on the level 21 stuff lol...

Lol i have those gears but i'm following Reggin's one since damage is not important (taunt skills triggering) in this case for his build.

if i could make a suggestion :D take a look at this.....
22577

skills are alittle off of uggs but i feel like i could tank just as well ;D gonna test it in amin to find out. just look at stats gear wise tho :D well worth any investment as for pet it adds no actual str dex or int..

Ambrose, can you post what gear you are using? I've been looking for a decent tank gear build and can't seem to get answers on ideal gear, regardless of price. You seem to have a happy medium with a relatively low drop in DPS for the good armor, health, intelligence, and dodge

Also, for being only 20, those are nice stats. Would you know the level 21 equivalents?

Thanks for the help.

DPS Gear

While I'm at it, Ashanto, can you post your gear as well? If you say your survivability with those stats are good, then a higher DPS would be better for threat output. However, how manageable would you say the mana situation is?

Goria
01-04-2013, 04:47 PM
So that's the tank I'm playing with. Not the best, I know, but i wanted to show you my warrior.
Mana might be low, but it's not that tragic.

Reggin

Like those stats goria... I've actually been considering using esteban myself due to that awesome dodge boost... only thing is it will make me extremely mana pot dependent with no vengeful.

I just hope they fix taunts in a future update. The lag factor and massively inferior dps of warriors is actually quite annoying.

In fairness, I don't like using my own four taunt build, I'm just forced to if I want to maintain aggro. I'd love to be able to get away with 3 taunts and allow either vengeful to make other pets viable or war horn for the awesome defensive boosts.

However, I will say that it does hold aggro better than any other build when it comes to playing with rogues and mages. People who are having trouble holding aggro with it just aren't timing things right.

My stats are much lower than a lot of guys who posted here, but people who know me and have ran with me will attest to the fact that I'm an aggro holding machine.

It does require a party though, as a tank build is quite possibly the worst possible solo character possible.

Yeah, I see, and your thoughts are very right, I find mine in it. Lol
Actually, I believe you that you can tank very good, you made some sick guide in this forum.
Hope they make "being" a tank quite better. (game mechanics, etc...) You know what I mean.

And after experimenting, I found my new armor. Actually it's quite cheap, because it's not a "dps arm".

Dodge is quite higher since than my other arm set, less hp, less armor but I think it fits my style, playing as a tank, very good.

No buff. ;)

I'll post my equipment later, with the pet's buff, Dodge would be like 18.7 %, since it gives me and my allies in range 15 Dex, Str and Int for, I think, 6 seconds.

I am now testing my new tanking build that rely on Rally Cry for greater dodging while maintaining aggro.
Most likely to learn Agility as passive skill.

Total potential dodge rate:
23.86% from gears + 25dex passive + 25% dodge from Rally Cry
= 48.86%% + 25dex passive.

Below are two of the gears setup before adding Agility.

Ideal Gear setup ignoring health if build tested to work:

My current setup with some Str gears:

** It seems that the 50% buff bonus from Rally Cry does not boost up the 25% dodge rate on character screen.
I tried several times but unfortunately it doesn't work.
Not sure if this is a bug though or maybe it just affect the initial skill effect which is the dmg reduction.

Ok this is a pic of my warrior after respec to full dex.
Dodge rate i managed to hit 54.51% and i get hit at lesser rate.
Apparently, it isn't that amazing due to low health.

http://i.imgur.com/Dv8yC.jpg

And thus, i went back to Full str stats and Might passive this time round.

This is with buff and dex accessories:
http://i.imgur.com/ndQ2n.jpg

This is with buff and high str low dex and dodge accessories:
http://i.imgur.com/fHEZe.jpg

Conclusion:
The mobs nearby Jarl no longer hit me that frequently and i can don't pot as though i'm at Lv16.
The downside for using this dodge pet is that we have no mana regen and thus rely on mana pot.
A swap on pet would solve this issue.

Skills i used:
Chest Splitter with interrupt skill
Axe Throw with all skills including stun
Rally Cry all skills except the 4th which increases movement speed
Horn of Renew all skills except for the increase range.
5 skill points to Might Passive.
All stat points are added to Str. Dex isn't really that feasible in this case.

Lmfao, tired of tanking? You can still tank with your new damage gear and skill set up. Your build before was geared towards passive endurance, the aggressive skill build is the way a warrior should be played.

Reggin

Actually my build was geared towards maximum efficiency tanking through timed taunts... it holds aggro better than any other build... quite frankly I only changed because I got lazy... damage warriors can just spam skills... taunt builds require lots of skill to use properly.
