The first Arcane rarity pet, Hammerjaw is now available. Hammerjaw is an exceedingly rare pet egg that can be found in locked Premium Watchman Crates. As the first Arcane item, obtaining Hammerjaw will complete the Arcane Achievement, granting a banner and the Arcane title.

Hammerjaw's activated ability grants a sweet buff, along with crackling electricity that swirls around you and your teammates for the duration of the buff.

Before I drop my 1300 plat (LOL), could you please clarify, is this the "Locked Grand Crate of the Watch" that have been dropping for a while, or is there a new "locked Premium Watchman Crate"?

Sorry, my bad for the confusion. There is only one locked crate in game and that is the "Locked Grand Crate of the Watch". Good luck!

Yes it was, but this is insane I've only heard of 3 drops of it. And I'm guessing around half a mil of plat spent.

Well I must say either ppl should wait for a day or not.. I've just got done spending 1.5k plat on this locked crate opening and haven't gotten a thing.. I'd rather pay 500 and just buy it.. Your making crate prices rise while keeping the cost to open at 15 plat with a .001% to get it... I've bought ALOT of crates at 9k each.. Now I have to worry about crates being 50k and still losing 1.5k platinum.. Which costed me 90$ in REAL life just to not even get it yet.... Fix this pls.. I would def want to speak to a DEV and see if I shouldn't have spent 1.5 plat and waited till tomm.. If I should have it by now pls work this out.. I'm very saddened... I feel very robbed and cheated 1.5 plat for any item in a game is Lot of real life money..

I totally understand where you are coming from. There was a time when I really wanted a Spectral Tiger for my WoW character (several years ago). The only way you could get it was as a rare card included in the WoW trading card game packs. I didn't even play the WoW trading card game, but man my undead priest would look _sweet_ on one, ya know? A friend convinced me that I'd be sure to get one if I went in with him and bought $100 of cards with him ($200 total). So, off I went to the game store and dropped the $100. After much opening of packs, I was not rewarded with a Spectral Tiger :(

Collectible Cards Games have rare chase items as pretty standard practice. I guess Baseball cards coined it first, but really, Hammerjaw is the same thing. We hope you get some value out of everything else you get out of the Crates - the armor has unique looks, the stats on the Rifle, Sword 'n Shield and Bow are the best you can get of those items, for example.

I get that, I do Sam I really do I play WoW as well and for a HUGE PC game that has tons and tons of content and things to do I understood that.. And the card itself sells for 500-1000$ real money.. What we have here is a mobile game that kids use Thier parents credit cards for to buy this platinum, 100$ for a mobile game where you stand around 90% of the time and the pet just sits there and can't carry you it's kind of a bit much to ask... It shouldn't be a random thing unless you take away the plat req to open the chest or drop it really low like to 3 plat per chest.. To be all honest even if I spent 100$ worth of plat and at the very end opened my last crate and got it.. I'm not sure i would have felt happy after that amount gone.. Either way I guess I'm out 100$ and will have to save a few mil gold to buy the egg.. I just feel really cheated and sad.. You guys had me intrested and so strung to this game till this event....

I'm starting to lose interest in AL not to mention STS games in general. This has become very plat oriented very fast. Two plat pets out before there is even a rly hard farmable drop? Idk but no matter the spin you guys put on it. STS is changing. Not sure it is for the better......

Ok I over shot with the kids credit card thing lol, but how about this it's MY hard earned money for a chance at a pet that or might cost WAY more then any other pet you guys have ever had in any of your games... Like you said lottery haha just disappointed with your guys method this time.. Seemed like a low blow.

@sweetnsour: yes it is your hard earned money...then don't "waste" it. Sam told everyone it was a "very rare pet"...now everyone has a problem when they can't get it. Makes a game more interesting when you can't just get everything you want right away.

You'll never be able to get it unless you spend plat to open the crate.. "Wasting" money is gold to me wasting plat isn't quiet the same but I get it.. I'm sure some will get it on a few crates and then the others like me will never get it.. Even if we spend 200-300 real life dollars.. I see the balance in that... Very rare.. Much fun to get.. How I don't know.. Like I said I'm mad but oh we'll it's a pet ill never see or waste plat on again.

dude then use your plat on gold and buy one, some people don't care about the title or banner they just want gold and will be selling the pets. I'm not sure how long you have played STS's games but a lot of people have spent thousands of dollars..I'm not talking in a whole I'm talking about one person spending that much. I myself have spent well over 200-300$ on STS games but nowhere near what others have.

I don't really understand what r u debating for? this is a rarity pet, just the name say how rare it is. And it's your choice to "wasting" money on it or not, if you do and can't get it, blame yourself first. If u lucky and got it, good for u, u will be recognized in a crowd (u will not be recognized in a crowd in which 20 others also have it lol).

Btw, have to say that I quite disappointed with the update, I'm still waiting for the day they remove the 2s invincible shield team buff of warrior. Just their team heal buff alone (which is much better than a mage's buff lol) makes me feel annoying enough.

Its arcane rarity, what did you guys expect? Get it in 5-10 chests? Does "exceedingly rare" mean anything to you? Besides, we had the 50% bonus platinum for first time purchase and the 40% discount to compensate for this. Its not like you get nothing if you open it with no hammerjaw, you're still guaranteed a pink.

Tip?
Open the crates with a level 6,10,16 or whatever level those twinks get their #%^& on . The watch items at that level range are worth more than at the 21 range anyway.

Well, i hate gambling, i know my luck is one of the worst kind. i hate depending solely on luck.
Hammerjaw wont be my pet. It will be like owning a Lambhorgini, only instead of going, wow how rich the owner is, i get to think: What a lucky fellow!
I won't complain as much if that arcane pets is available for, say 500 plats instead of "depends on ur luck", let the dice roll.
STS is turning to gambling revenue.

Instead of focusing on finding ways to get players to gamble away their plats to earn more revenue, why not focus on improving the game and gameplay, make us feel we have received so much entertainment from this game so that we willingly pay for the plats. Or that plats improve your play experience. This is what happened to me when I play PL.
I will gladly spend my plats on priority server connection, maybe? Got more lags now in AL too.
Exclusivity could have come in the forms of contests.

I'm still very annoyed that the UI of in-game plats spending gets no confirmation button. And that those pesky little button to whittle away ur plats uselessly are in every nook and crook of the screen, making u buy things u dont want to buy by accident.
And how when in dungeon, people in your party that happen to be next to ur skills, will cause you view their avatar. It should have been disabled. Access the party avatar from the top left only. Why have both??? Bad UI.

I haven't gotten a chance to play much today, and earlier when I looked there weren't any Hammerjaws in the CS yet, but I'm sure when they do have them they will be like 5m+. So this gives me something to work towards long term. I gotta work really hard, do lots of farming, merching, etc. I need to save every bit of gold, and then one day I will have him for sure!

And to the person who said having Hammerjaw would just show you are lucky, I doubt that very much. Most players who are just lucky and get Hammerjaw will just sell him for the insane amounts of gold he will get. Those who actually put the pets in their stable will mostly be those who purchased him.

This reminds me of the dragon sets in PL. I got my first dragon set last summer. It cost me 26m gold. It took 3 months of playing 2-3 hours per day (and more on weekends) to save up that gold, but then I was able to get one. It's the only time in PL I ever felt a sense of true achievement, like i had accomplished something that wasn't easy but was very difficult.

I just hope I will get more chances like that in the future. It seems like the vast majority of players want to have the super rare items within a few hours after they are released, or else they rage and complain that it's too rare. I just hope STS won't give in this time.

Yes, it's a way for them to make plat without letting players buy their way to the leaderboards. It totally reminds me of the dragon sets in PL (how they were last summer before they increased the drop rates). It didn't matter how much plat you had, it wasn't going to help you get a dragon set. For that you had to be either super lucky (like winning the lottery) or you had to work really hard, save up the gold, and buy it.

In fact, I wonder why am I so dumb to buy plats!? I can get free elixir from Klaas and Shazbot. I can get free pets even. In fact, farming gets you millions in a short amount of time, plats only gets you lottery chance to open boxes that are worth very little.

Wow roll out the waaaaaambulance. Its stupid rare. Get over it. U just want the achievement point. Deal with it rich boy. I actually like how rare it is. Means less pl will have so more status not caring about stats. And god only knows how strong its attacks get as it lvls. Ya malison is a better pet starting out but god knows how much dmg this thing does as it lvls and learns attacks lol. For all we know it will have a lvl 20 jaws attack that does insane dmg

the cost of hammerjaw is gonna end up being more than ripmaw for someone ppl, even if they dont end up getting it. 15 plat to open a crate is wayyy too much. sts should either lower crate unlock price or giv more plat away with free offers. (although im pretty sure they wont) :(

Personally, I hope all the arcane items are this rare. Arcane items should be so rare that a player would be lucky to have one single arcane item. Not so common that most end game players have several. They should be rare enough to command 5m+.

Now maybe Mystic should be pretty rare where most elite end game players would be lucky enough to have one or maybe two, but not so common like pink legendary where you farm for them and buy and sell them on a daily basis. Mystic should be the kind of item that would be worth 1-2m. For those that play PL, think the Elite dark pink items.

And pink legendary -- we have seen that in AL pink items are not so rare at all. Since I've started playing AL, I've probably owned about a hundred of them. Yes, they are not as common as the greens or purples, but they are common enough that most players who put any time into farming have gotten dozens of them.

I think the stats of the mystic items should be only a tiny bit better than pink legendary, and the stats of arcane items should be only a tiny bit better than mystic. That way the players who have these items won't have a huge advantage over those who do not. But there would still be an advantage, however slight, which would cause these items to be worth a bundle. Kind of how like the dragon sets in PL only gave a few stat points, but were worth millions.

Saw a hammer in cs earlier....no clue if there or not still but guy wanted 9.9mill for it. Is there even anyone that rich in game?

Just because it's not in the AH, doesn't mean it sold. It was there since yesterday and could easily have expired. Or it could have been someone who bought a few eggs early on when people didn't quite know the price and put it up in AH for show. (400 - 500k listing fee is a small price to pay if that player could convince the majority of the community that it's "worth" 9.5M. The player could then sell the hammerjaw eggs he/she acquired and sell them at a much higher premium. Merching happens in every MMO. The more gold someone has, the more easily a player is able to manipulate the market. I've been part of such clans in other MMOs I've played and I'll tell you this much. The rich get richer, that's just fact.

Unless he cancelled the listing ur argument is void. I was up at 9am this morning and it wasn't listed. Then it pops up at noon and is gone by 4pm. So he either has money to burn showing it off or someone has a bunch of money

Wow, have played since release and never have i seen something this wrong. Please make the Hammerjaw pet cost 1000 plat or something similar. Many of my friends who have also played since release have wasted hundreds and some even thousands of plat trying to get the pet (including myself) personally i think this was a very disrespectful move on spacetimestudios part. The people who help support this game deserve to have a better chance at the first ARCANE RARITY pet than this..come on guys..

I spent a few hundred, then I bought the 1700 plat and tried some more. I don't have it, spent a few hundred grand buying chests and probably close to 2k plat. I don't have it, I'm happy. Sure, I'd love to have gotten one (or more) but the fact that there are items this rare makes me happy. Hopefully all Arcane items are this rare (of course, with stats to warrant), it will make trying to get the best gear worth more than a day of grinding.

P.S. anyone want a bunch of useless watch gear for mages and warriors? I seem to have a little bit to spare... sorry, swords are sold, rest is garbage.

Hey Sam, I guess I'm the only one here that is very pleased with this all. I've been asking for ages in both PL & AL that there be some really rare items, and it looks like you delivered.

I haven't gotten a chance to play much today, and earlier when I looked there weren't any Hammerjaws in the CS yet, but I'm sure when they do have them they will be like 5m+. So this gives me something to work towards long term. I gotta work really hard, do lots of farming, merching, etc. I need to save every bit of gold, and then one day I will have him for sure!

And to the person who said having Hammerjaw would just show you are lucky, I doubt that very much. Most players who are just lucky and get Hammerjaw will just sell him for the insane amounts of gold he will get. Those who actually put the pets in their stable will mostly be those who purchased him.

This reminds me of the dragon sets in PL. I got my first dragon set last summer. It cost me 26m gold. It took 3 months of playing 2-3 hours per day (and more on weekends) to save up that gold, but then I was able to get one. It's the only time in PL I ever felt a sense of true achievement, like i had accomplished something that wasn't easy but was very difficult.

I just hope I will get more chances like that in the future. It seems like the vast majority of players want to have the super rare items within a few hours after they are released, or else they rage and complain that it's too rare. I just hope STS won't give in this time.

Well, I made the above post earlier in this thread on February 1st. And today I finally purchased a Hammerjaw Egg! :)

Now if only they would make it so that I could get the achievement by opening the egg. Originally the achievement was awarded for this, but then they changed it to eliminate those who beg to borrow an arcane item (such as the rogue hooks) for the achievement and then scam and don't give it back. But with hatching an egg, it can only be done once, so I don't see what the problem is with awarding the achievement for that.

In its current form it's almost crazy to even call it an "achivement" at all. What did someone actually achieve? No amount of hard work or excellence in this game will earn you the arcane achievement. It's just plain luck like winning a lottery. It's kind of lousy that there is no way I can actually "achieve" this achievement.

But just to show that it is possible, it took me about 4 months but I managed to get my Hammerjaw! So it can be done. Now just give me the achievement too!! Lord knows I've spent enough time and done enough hard work to deserve it!
