Why don't glyph birds use the Cruel blast thing?

They kite, bow has nice range they want take advantage of it and scream has short range

Maybe the particular person you're facing was a kiter? Shattering is 8m, which means they might get hit by hellscream.

Xbow glyph birds own at 12meters, if bird vs bird and one tries to cruel combo a good bird the closest he will get is probably at 10m (root range). If you can root the bear twice then it's a very good time to use the combo. Vs mage it's totally useless if they have mana shield on, so the the best use you can do is blast (break shield), repulse, run for blast cooldown then get near with double root shatter blast and that should kill. But again glyph birds at this level are at their best when they kite at 12 meters.

I almost never use cruel blast because it (oddly enough) seems to debuff your own dodge to 0 for a second or two. But don't listen to me because I don't know anything about birds...

I use pure dex still pfft ^_^! I just found out... If you're good at kiting and can sneak in double roots, you'll beat a Warbird easily o_O...

And to answer the above. For birds, if you have them rooted, they're more than dead already. Mages die in like 3 shots anyway, it's best they die at 10-12m rather 8 and risk getting that devilish lightning, and as for bears, if they're rooted go ahead run to 8m and cruel blast the mess out of em, if they happen to hs, repulse and use avian to break free.

This is from a standpoint of the classes are using the CORRECT gear they should.
