Ok, I know everyone is tired of hearing people talking about Hammerjaw and it's rarity and how expensive it is. But the lack of consumer appreciation from Spacetime Studios (STS) slapped me in the face today. I wrote STS last night to discuss this and got a pretty ugly response back from Gnosis. My issue with this is that people, myself included, spend a lot of money and time on STS games. Now they made Hammerjaw only obtainable with Platinum, a form of currency in game that you have to pay real money for, or complete offers througha third party. Either way STS is making money on your transaction. So wouldn't it be fair to your consumer to at least make it obtainable? Others have spent more, but me personally I spent 1025 platinum yesterday trying to get this pet. So I wrote STS in the hopes that they can help me out by either giving me the pet for spending that much platinum, and by that making them money, or give me some of my platinum back, effectively asking for a refund. Below is an portion of the email conversation with Gnosis:

Gnosis I understand it is extremely rare but how fair is it to a player to have them spend that much platinum for something? It has completely ruined the game for some, me included. 1025 Platinum was spent in pursuit of Hammerjaw. 1025 Platinum is not something easily got, it takes a lot of time to aquire that much. Something has to be done about this, you say you need to keep the game fair but I personally feel cheated and consider what has happened unfair.

Gnosis replied:
At no point in time where you ever guaranteed to receive that item, nor were you led to believe that you should receive that item. Everything referencing that pet says that it is extremely rare. Each time you unlocked that crate, you chose to accept the risk that you would not receive the pet. If that risk is unacceptable, then the correct course of action is to not open those crates, not keep opening them, spend a bunch of plat and then cry “Foul!”. The system is perfectly fair in that it treats everyone equally. The only reason you feel cheated is because you didn’t get something that you wanted which is understandable, it’s human nature, but that does not mean that you were treated unfairly in anyway. Every single person in this game has the exact same chance that you do to receive that pet and we will not assist anyone with receiving it, nor will we provide a refund for any platinum spent.

Gnosis"

Honestly felt like a big middle finger to me from STS. Feels like they don't care at ALL what their players/consumers or anyone feels about the game play. I have a very sour taste in my mouth from the response from STS and can't even play the game longer than a few seconds without becoming angry again and turning it off. I know some of you have no issue with it and find it humorous to hear people having these frustrations but I find it makes me not want to play even more knowing that I am not the only one that has spent this much money and time on a game, only to have the developers not care about you. Kinda feels like they just want the money you're going to spend and that's it.

I feel that something has to be done.

tbh, sts is in the right. they have made know that this was intentional, and the drop rates are right on. i see no reason why they should refund the plat.

now all you can hope for is that they make a angle set as they did in PL for spending $50 in the game or what not before a certain date (not sure if this is right). but anyway i would just cut your losses and leave it be.

Dear grand casino coshata..I spent $5k on a poker tourney buy-in and lost. Since I lost so much on a gamble and received nothing, could you maybe send me some pity compensation.
Yeah, I think not! Sorry for your loss, but sts is doing what they do..that is making games and making money. And, thank YOU for keeping sts in business !

Even in casinos what happens if you lose? what happens during the entire time you're gambling? "hey you lost big, and i'm sorry so here's this 10,000 dollar a night presidential suit you can use for the evening." Happened to me twice in Vegas because the pit boss and managers in the casino want you to come back, they want you to keep gambling, it's called softening the loss. In no way, shape or form is STS helping their players. So honestly you're comment doesn't make sense, it actually helps my case.

The reason they should or give me the pet or anyone who has spent an ungodly amount of plat, is because we pay to have that amount, we give STS money to get exclusive items and gold. Not to have something dangled in front of us and have it be THAT low of a drop rate that only 3 to 4 people in the entire game have it.

Hi Jackyll,

First, please allow me to apologize for any hard feelings you may have. We sincerely value all of our Premium players who choose to support us. Without you, we couldn't operate our business and we sincerely appreciate your business.

I can well understand how you feel. As I re-told in another thread, I personally have spent some decent $$ chasing exclusive WoW trading cards only to ultimately end up without what I was hoping for. Hammerjaw is the same way. If we gave it to everyone, then it wouldn't be rare - it would be common. If you would like to discuss the issue further, I welcome your private message.

I do have to take issue with reposting of private communication between STS and yourself and will close this thread. As our Forum Rules (http://www.spacetimestudios.com/misc.php?do=vsarules) state:
