This is my story for a contest for an FPS called Blacklight:Retribution. Let me know what you think.

The Story of Aaron Telfair

As he lied down hidden under the cover of darkness, he watched as the battery levels of his blackout slowly drain, he knew soon he will have to move. He was a Blacklight soldier, the best in the world at eliminating a target. He had joined Blacklight a year earlier and had been through the training area at least 500 times since then. Ever since Spade had called him the Rookie it stuck and that was his code name much to his disappointment. He was on his first mission, a simple mission...Infiltrate the Claw's hideout and find out why several U.S. civilians had disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The last thing he wanted to do was screw it up and fail, but, how could he fail? After the several months of rigorous training not to mention the years he spent in the army before he was contacted by Blacklight. He could not fail, he WOULD not fail. He was strong mentally and physically. Bloodshed did not concern him he took orders and obeyed. He was an elite. He was...Aaron Telfair.

Aaron stood up and used his healing injector, he was hurt...bad. He made it off better than some of the others in their company...2 had died in the helicopter crash. It was him, Spade, and Buck. He had no idea how they found out they were coming, but it didn't matter anymore...they just had to survive and complete the mission.

He helped Spade and Buck up and gave them a hit of the healing injector. "Ugghh." said Spade, " I think my arm is broken". Spade was tall and skinny, but, pure muscle. He was an excellent sniper. "We need to move." said Buck. Buck was a gargantuan muscle man. A freak of nature. He was a heavy weapons specialist. "Alright guys, chill out. We need to make it out of here alive" said Aaron. "Give me more of that healing injector my arm still hurts" said Spade. "Forget that thing and let's get going" said Buck.

Buck picked up his rocket launcher and slung his flamethrower across his back, "I think I lost my sniper" said Spade. "It's right there now let's move!" said Buck. "Bad news guys..." said Aaron "the blackout just went out, we have probably about 15 seconds before the-" he was cut short as a frag grenade went off 50 feet to their left. "Time to go!" said Buck as he shoved Aaron and Spade around a building to the right. "I need my sniper!" said Spade as he was roughly shoved by Buck, "No time" said Buck, "We have to get out of here NOW! Aaron pop up your HRV and see how many of Claw's men are around us." "Roger that" said Aaron as he popped up his HRV "Looks like about 20 guys and more coming...there is a building we could hold up in, we have a few minutes at the max...it's at about 2 O'clock." "Let's go for it then." said Spade heading toward the building "looks like the best chance we have of surviving right now..."

As bullets flew around them they made it to the building. They bolted the door and Spade placed a proximity mine down next to the door. "What do we do now?" said Aaron panting from their brief escape. "Spade, get the Commander up on Video display. We need confirmation on what to do next before it's too late." Spade quickly established a video link back to HQ. The face of an angry, red-faced Commander popped up on each of their displays. "What happened out there!?" said the Commander. "Sir, they knew we were coming. They shot down our helicopter and are pursuing us as we speak. Only me, Spade, and the Rookie survived. We need orders on whether or not to proceed with the mission." said Buck. They could hear a sigh over the video link. "It's no use now, Claw knows you are there and has most certainly ditched his hideout..." said the Commander "abort mission and get out of there...if you can. I'll have a helicopter waiting for you at data-point Alpha."

Spade turned the video link off. "Well, what now?" said Aaron. Buck took off his severely damaged helmet, grabbed his lucky cigar that he had been saving for just such an occasion as this, and lit it using his flamethrower. "Now..." said Buck blowing a puff of smoke "we go kick some butt and get out of here alive..."

They heard the tremendous bang as the door was broken down and the proximity mine went off mingled with the shouts of men as the proximity mine killed a couple of them. They rushed out the back door. "Looks like data-point Alpha is about 500 yards at 4 O'clock" said Aaron "Oh, and there is a squad moving in on us from the left". "Gee, thanks for letting us know Rook" said Spade as he rolled his eyes. They moved into Bravo formation, Aaron had practiced this hundreds of times, but never in a real fire fight. "Aaron you cover left, Spade you got middle, and i'll get right." They fought like their life depended on it...because it did. Bullets flew around them and an incendiary round hit Aaron in the shoulder. "Ahhggg, My shoulder!" He popped his shoulder pad off and looked at the slightly charred skin as he injected himself with the healing injector. He could feel the exobytes flow through his blood system and heal his skin. When he looked up one of Claw's soldiers knocked him over and held a machete high to strike his neck.

---

Two men sat in an office a top New York City's sky line. The shadows enveloped them, but you could notice the men had been through several firefights. The man on the left had a scar running down his right check and neck it disappeared under the folds of his dress shirt. The second man had been severely burned. The back of his head had no hair on it. Where the hair should have been was a brutal burn etched across the back of his head. "Do you think we made the right choice?" said Scar face in a gruff voice, "Putting a rookie in that situation, even after all that extra training we put him through, isn't a good idea.". "You know it had to be done." said the burnt man "We had to see how the infusion would work". For years Blacklight had been working on an infusion system to give their soldiers an even bigger advantage in war. It contained several newly discovered hormones that enhanced the human's senses. It had been infused into Aaron Telfair's DNA unbeknownst to him. Blacklight hadn't had a rookie in 2 years, so when the Blacklight scientists heard about Aaron joining Blacklight they jumped at the chance to finally test their discoveries on a human. "I just hope it works..." said Scar face tracing his scar with his finger...

---

A bullet penetrated the armor of the soldier and he fell dropping his machete. Spade held out a hand and helped up Aaron up "You're lucky I was there to hel-" A bullet whined through the air as it penetrated Spade's helmet. Blood spurted from Spade's helmet as he fell. "No!" said Aaron as he took off Spade's helmet. "M-m-make it back...*gasp*...make it b-back for me. It's b-been a good f-f-fight. Good luck R-Rook." Spade took his last breath and...smiled. Fueled with what he thought was adreneline he turned his HRV on and looked around for the killer...He saw a lone figure standing on a building a hundred yards away. Adrenaline coursed through his body as he loaded a round into his revolver. One round. Sniper versus revolver at a hundred yards...Two shots rang out. The man on the building fell, Aaron had shot him in the head and the sniper's bullet whistled through air as it passed not 3 inches from Aaron's head. "Hey!" said Buck "What happened over he-" He stopped short as he saw Spade's body. "What happened..." said Buck. "He...he saved my life." said Aaron his voice waivering, "One of Claw's men knocked me down and was about to slit my throat. Spade shot him and after he helped me up...a sniper...shot him" Aaron choked. "He won't receive a proper soldier's burial, but when we get back he will be mentioned and given a proper ceremony of honor." said Buck, "Come on Rook...let's go."

---

Scar Face's phone buzzed. He picked it up, looked at the screen, and sighed...It was the Commander. "Yes sir?" said Scar Face. "I need you at room 147 at the Blacklight Hospital in an hour" said the Commander...*click* "Great...he hung up...This better not be anything major." said Scar Face under his breath.

---

They were 175 feet away from data-point Alpha when a group of soldiers converged on them. They were SO close, they couldn't fail this close to freedom..."Rook!" said Buck as bullets flew around them "let's run for it!". "Roger that Buck!" said Aaron as he started sprinting toward the helicopter. It was a dangerous move...very dangerous. They were running and gunning. A rocket flew towards the helicopter and missed it...barely. There were too many men and the helicopter would surely be shot down if someone didn't stay and protect the lift-off. Buck knew this..."Rook!" said Buck, "Get to the helicopter...i'm staying!". "What are you insane Buck?!" said Aaron "BOTH of us are going to survive this!". "No! Don't you see Rook?" said Buck grunting as a bullet hit his leg "The helicopter will be shot down if I don't stay!". "B-b-but" stammered Aaron. "Go!" said Buck as he was swallowed by troops of Claw's men "It's been an honor fighting by your side Rook."

Aaron had stumbled into the helicopter dazed and stunned by the events he had just witnessed. He remembered the medics asking him something, something about his health...Then he faded into unconsciousness. He woke up in a white room the glare of a florescent light stung his eyes as he blinked. He heard someone distantly say, "Ah, he's awake sir..." "Thank you now leave us alone" said another voice, "Yes, sir." said the first voice. Aaron heard the door creak on its hinges and close. "Aaron Telfair...can you hear me?" said the man. Aaron opened his eyes. The man standing next to his bed was dressed in a business suit with a dark, black tie. Aaron noticed a scar running from his cheek down to his neck. "You should be dead right now." said the Scar faced man "They removed 12 bullets out of your body" Aaron coughed and managed to rasp out, "Well, why am I still alive then?". "That...is a long story" said Scar face. "I have time" said Aaron coughing. The scar faced man didn't speak for several moments...Then he said, "I suppose you do deserve to know..." He went on to tell him about his DNA being infused with the hormones and his body being more durable...Aaron faded in and out of consciousness as the man went on for hours describing how the procedure was made and how his DNA was changed for forever...a super human...that's what he called Aaron...

"We will have to wipe your memory" said Scar Face. "Fine" said Aaron grimacing, "I would rather die than remember what happened on that mission..." "Good, we will make the proper preparations." said Scar Face as he walked out the door.

Aaron Telfair sat down in a chair on his balcony in Maui. He had lived a good life, he thought. He was rich and retired. "There it is again" he thought. Ever since his memory had been wiped Aaron had experienced a feeling that he couldn't quite describe..."It's like almost finishing a puzzle, but, you can't find the last puzzle piece." he thought. He gazed out at the beautiful sunset on the beach. Then it hit him, like a train smashing into his chest at 200 miles per hour...Aaron remembered. Not all of it...no not all of it. Images flashed through his head. Spade falling as blood spurted from his helmet. Buck giving him that last smile as he dove into the ranks of enemy soldiers. "They risked their lives to save me" he thought. Me...the Rook. As Aaron Telfair wept angry, bitter tears...One thing was emblazoned upon his mind...revenge

Chapter Two Teaser!

Chapter Two

Revenge

Aaron Telfair boarded flight 317 out of LaGuardia Airport in New York. It was a civilian flight, he was not being supported by Blacklight on this one...This was purely for personal reasons. Where is he going? That's confidential, but, one thing is for sure...Aaron Telfair was determined. For 2 years Aaron had tried to find where the Claw was hiding...He used military search programs, but, it still took 2 years before he pin-pointed where Claw was. He was going to hunt him down and kill him for what he did to Spade and Buck, or he would die trying. Blacklight thought he had went into retirement..."Hah, those fools wouldn't let me avenge my comrades. Idiots..." thought Aaron. They had treated him like a young boy when he had come to them hoping for support. He knew what they thought he was...delusional. They thought that the DNA infusion had effected his mind, but, it hadn't. As Aaron Telfair took his seat, he smiled..."I will succeed..."

I am currently writing chapter two. If you have any questions or comments please post them. If you have any ideas feel free to let me know!

I am very proud to announce that I am finished with chapter two! It took a while, but, I think it turned out good.

Chapter Two

Revenge

Aaron Telfair boarded flight 317 out of LaGuardia Airport in New York. It was a civilian flight, he was not being supported by Blacklight on this one...This was purely for personal reasons. Where is he going? That's confidential, but, one is for sure...Aaron Telfair was determined. For 2 years Aaron had tried to find where the Claw was hiding...He used military search programs, but, it still took 2 years before he pin-pointed where Claw was. He was going to hunt him down and kill him for what he did to Spade and Buck, or he would die trying. They had treated him like a young boy when he had come to them hoping for support. He knew what they thought he was...delusional. They thought that the DNA infusion had effected his mind, but, it hadn't. As Aaron Telfair took his seat, he smiled..."I will succeed..."

Flight 317 touched down on the tarmac approximately 4 hours, 37 minutes later. 4 hours later Aaron was in his hotel bed sleeping...Aaron started awake suddenly...Was he hearing things? He heard scratching in the bathroom. The scratching stopped. Aaron's heart beating fast, he eased himself out of bed and creeped toward the bathroom with his pistol...His palms were sweaty as he gripped the pistol tightly...A dark shape loomed in the doorway...The moon glinted through the window and he could see a silver glint near both arms of the man. Knives? "Don't move or i'll sho-" Aaron stopped short as the man took a step into the moonlight...The man had a trench coat on...but, where his hands should have been were long pieces of sharp metal. Aaron was paralyzed with fear. The grotesque man moved toward him with lightning quickness and raised his knife hands to strike.

Aaron woke up...He was drenched in sweat. A dream, that's all it was...a dream. He looked over, the alarm clock read, 6:54 AM. There was no way he was going to be able to go to sleep again so he got up. There was no way the Claw could know he was here. He booked his flight under a false name and used a fake passport. He was not going to fail this time...The Claw was staying in a hotel of all places. He had thought that the Claw would retreat to a obscure island somewhere. Aaron had to admire the sheer brilliance of the idea, hiding in plain sight. Aaron picked up his pistol and attached a silencer to it...He was going to have to be as silent as a cat if he wanted to pull this one off.

Aaron walked out the hotel doors a brisk, Autumn wind swept down the street. He had a backpack on stuffed with black, light weight clothes that he would change into at Claw's hotel and some explosives just in case it got ugly. He hailed a cab and gave him the address to the hotel. The car pulled away from the curb, "Such a big hotel" said the cab driver making small talk. Aaron didn't reply, the less he spoke, the better. "You are going for a specific reason, no?". What was this man talking about? He made Aaron uneasy..."You are going there for the Claw?" Aaron tried the door handle, it was locked. The man stopped the car, turned around, and pointed a pistol at Aaron, "If you were smart you would have stayed retired" said the cab driver, "The Claw knows that you ar-" Aaron didn't wait for the man to finish his sentence, "Look out that car is going to smash into us!" The man hesitated for a moment and that was all Aaron needed. He drew his gun and shot the man dead in the face. "Works every time" chuckled Aaron. He dug in his backpack for a time detonator, he couldn't leave any evidence here. He pressed the 2 minute button and jumped out of the car dodging cars as traffic sped by...Aaron ran.

As he rushed around an old, brick building he heard the massive explosion as he felt the tremor run into his legs and ripple up his spinal cord. The street was chaos, people were running away from the scene, some were helping those hit with the explosion. Aaron arrived at the Claw's hotel 20 minutes later, he had walked, he wasn't going to trust anymore cab drivers for the rest of his life...Aaron walked to the reception desk and asked the receptionist if she could tell him where Carloff Airwine's room was. The name was easy enough to figure out, too easy to figure out, but, this had not occurred to him. "I'm sorry sir but, we can't reveal where our guests are staying", "Look lady, I need to get in that room, I-i left my cell phone in the room and I need it really bad" lied Aaron, "I'm sorry sir, but, we inspect and clean the rooms very thoroughly before we allow another person to occupy th-", "Look." said Aaron, "I have a gun in my pocket if you don't give me the room number i'll...", "Ok, ok!" said the terrified receptionist, "His room number is..." she flipped through a book on her desk, "...119", "Thanks...for nothing" said Aaron as he strode toward the stairs.

He quietly climbed the staircase and began wandering down the long hallway to the Claw's room. His nerves were on edge, flinching everytime he heard a sound..."Why haven't I seen anyone yet..." thought Aaron...Aaron reached the Claw's door and crept ever so quietly to the door and listened...nothing. He couldn't hear any..."What in the world is going on" thought Aaron as he reached in his backpack for his lock-picking kit. Wait, footsteps, echoing down the hallway...Aaron froze, there was no where to hide except the snack room that had vending machines and ice makers humming away. It was 40 feet away...could he make it before person turned the corner onto his hallway? He padded away as fast as he could and sped into the snack room just as the man walked into sight. Aaron hid in between the snack machines, it was a snug fit, but, at least he wasn't out in the open and he could still see a part of the hallway. A guard walked into his vision, "Had the receptionist told security about him?" thought Aaron, "Crud!" To Aaron's horror the man started to head toward the snack room, "Can he see me from here?" thought Aaron his palms wet with perspiration..."Ah, I don't need a snack" said the over-weight guard to himself as he walked past the snack area...Aaron let out a long breath that he didn't realize he was holding..."Now, focus in on the task at hand" he thought...

Aaron reached the Claw's door, again, and listened intently to see if he could hear anything..."So odd...he must be away from his room." thought Aaron. He reached into his backpack and pulled out the lock-picking kit. 3 minutes later, Aaron heard the click ring out in his ears as pins clicked into place unlocking the door...

He eased the door open quietly and gave the room a quick scan. It was dark, the only light coming from a window. "He must be away right now" he thought...Aaron noticed a single chair in the room placed by the window. He stopped short, there was a man sitting in it with his back towards Aaron. "So, Aaron Telfair...We finally meet in person" said the Claw. Aaron thought about grabbing his pistol, but, his hands wouldn't obey him, he was paralyzed with fear, the only thing his mind could think about was getting out of this room. Aaron turned to run out the door, "Oh, don't do that!" laughed the Claw "I had my men wire the foundation of this building with explosives. One press of a button and this building and all of the innocent people in it will blow up!", Aaron stopped...turned back toward the Claw and waited for him to continue..."You see, if cooperate then no one will die...well, except for you...", "No! I came here to avenge Spade and Buck!" shouted Aaron. "Hahahah! Those little comrades of yours?" replied the Claw. Aaron rushed the Claw, the Claw turned around and threw a shuriken at Aaron it sliced through his clothes and embedded itself in his chest. Aaron fell to the ground. "Ahahah!" laughed the Claw, "Can't you see? You can't win!". As blood pooled around him, the Claw walked out the door.

Aaron's chest DNA began to go into overtime. It started strengthening itself with the exobytes that had been injected into him. In 3 minutes, Aaron's chest was healed.

"Ughhhh" Aaron sat up. His clothes were stained with blood, "What in the world?". Then he remembered, the Claw throwing the shuriken at him and the tremendous pain that ripped his chest open...He looked down at his chest, besides being stained with blood there was only a scar where the shuriken had sliced into his skin. Aaron stood up and ran to the door remembering that the Claw was probably already gone, but, he had mentioned that a helicopter was waiting for him on the roof. Aaron rushed up the stairs not caring if he made noise or not. This was his last chance to kill the Claw and the Claw thought he was dead..."Perfect." thought Aaron.

Aaron burst through the door to the top of the building, the helicopters blades were slicing throught the air at dangerous speed. The wind that hit Aaron almost knocked him over..."How are you alive?!" shouted the Claw over the noise of the helicopter blades. Aaron grinned, "Magical pixie dust!" he said as he threw a proximity mine on the helicopters door as it closed shut and took off...

"Time for payback!" said Aaron as he took out his pistol. He had to shoot just right or the helicopter would escape...Aaron shot his pistol. His aim was true as the bullet flew through the air striking the proximity mine that he had stuck on the door...When the proximity mine blew up, it ignited the fuel tank, which in turn, blew the helicopter to pieces in a spectacular firework show.

---

The last thing the Claw did before he died was...press the detonator to implode the building from the foundation.

---

Aaron was ecstatic, he had done it! He had won and most importantly, he had avenged Spade and Buck...That's when he felt the explosion rock the building. Before the building fell completely, Aaron Telfair...jumped into empty space.

---

The scar faced man looked at the wreckage of the hotel. The Commander had sent him to check out the wreckage thinking that it might be Aaron Telfair. "The Commander is an idiot." thought Scar Face. He wasn't even an official part of Blacklight, he contracted to them, he did it for the money. They had known that the Claw was staying here and they had been watching him for several weeks. They were going to have a Blacklight troop move in and remove him for interrogation, but, it seemed that someone had beat them to it...minus the interrogation. The scar faced man looked at the recorded video feeds from the men that were staking out the building for weeks. Near the end, it showed a man...jumping off the building as it collapsed, then as the minutes went by he could see the man get up from the wreckage of the collapsed building. Impossible...the man must have fallen several hundred feet...No one could survive that. The scar faced man slowed the video down frame by frame...The man looked like...no, that couldn't be...The man looked like Aaron. Scar Face ran through the video several times. Yes, it was Aaron. The infusion must have worked better than the Blacklight scientists thought. Aaron Telfair, was alive.

hey these are good stories
liked the way the end of the first chapter tied into the theme of the second chapter, are there more parts? how long is this story?
one suggestion, there are too many ellipses... just replace with commas or periods where possible.
