Using s3:
1st method: Swiping your palm on screen
Or
2nd method: press lock button + home button (at the same time)
Using s2:
Lock button first then home button

It's happened before, someone completely messed up the LB in Season 1 with upto 14 digit stats.
That said, StS ban them and anyone involved, along with reinforced security to make sure it don't/didn't happen again.

Yes, it was Canop. But the exploit was fixed, and as developers stated, it is nearly impossible to do it again. Anyways, we never know.

There's people hacking with platinum. Hard to prove but there are people stat hacking. Stat hacking is having above normal stat of cap level. All it starts is when a person obtains an offline game file vs server connected games. It happens A LOT. Just read thetechgame. It's not impossible. Little kids have a lot of time on their hands to cheat.
Edit: Major FYI, rare players don't want to step out to be inspected. Sometimes I get curious. Once pvp games end, they log out. I truly do wonder sometimes.

someone told me that the phone must be rooted. i have unrooted GS2 and the pic. taken sucks.

SG3, ICS = Power + Home

How to upgrade from Gingerbread?
Depends, what carrier you are using atm? (Different carriers = Different methods, and the possibility that it's not possible)
Basics are; Menu > System Settings > About Phone > Check for Upgrade.
