My grandfather is a big coin collector, he's been collecting them for about 30-40 years. I'll ask him when I see him.

Ah, yes, the rare dime. It's worth precisely 10 cents by my calculations.

1946-1964 dimes are actually worth $2.10 all day

1982 and lower pennies are made of 95% copper and are worth about 2.2 cents
Pennies nowadays are made of 95% zinc and 5% copper, making penny actually not even worth the penny

That was because of WWII though...

Yup, which is why the US needs to take Canada's example and get rid of the penny.

Edit:

Just read the article Lalarie posted. If that's the same coin as the one that sold for 350K, you hit the lottery...Wouldn't go for 350k obviously since that one was a grade 68, and yours has been in circulation. Still would make bank though...

Very nice find! I'm sure some crazy collector would buy for some exorbitant price, try eBay ;-)

Watch the Youtube hangout with Obama, someone actually asked him that and he said that people would freak out because of the familiarity of having a penny lol

So ur gpop sayin that it can be valuable? I was reading and ik its not a PROOF because those were made diffrent, maybe stamped twice or more, an they look shiny and cloudy in diff spot, this ones a circulated one, but still could be worth soemthin, ima try an find a local coim collector and see

You'd be better off doing that. He didnt tell me anything of value he just said why it doesnt have the mark.

Pretty sure the copper one is the rare one. Steel was the main material used in 1943 pennies due to copper going towards the war efforts, making the copper one the highly valued one, and the steel relatively common.
