Charge or spam

Im not sure if anyone can help me but should i hold down my attacks and charge them or spam my rifle or staff attacks.

PvE : Rifle > charge,Staff > spam
PvP : I think its better to charge both for stun
Thats my thought...
PS : I have no idea about the rifle with flame something.Heard it have no stun...:concern:

Actually in PVE will do max damage (single target) spamming with both types. The 1s charge is not worth it.

For sample a rifle or new oracle gun is .89 attacks per second (a/s)
1s charge plus .89s cool down before u can charge again is, about 1.9s a/s at double damage.
Lets say u do 100 damage per spam attack, so 200 per charge (average)
10 attacks in 19s for 2,000 damage
Or in 19s you could attack 21.1 times (I show the decimal cause over a longer period you would get more a/s) for 2,111

For a Flamestrike or Charward staff the difference is greater
Let's use the same 100/200 damage per non charge vs charge example
These staves have a .555 a/s
10 charged attacks yields 2,000 damage over 15.55 seconds
28 non charged attacks in that same period for 2,800 damage.

So you can see that you won't want to charge your basic attack in pve unless the a/s of a weapon is >1. The only time to do so is for the large aoe effect from a staff in groups. But when talkin about max damage we talk about vs single targets

Also, the same goes for skills. Don't charge unless you are doing aoe (time shift countdown of pain, or fireball knockdown/-hit). Otherwise, you will get max damage by just spamming skills (immediately following a weapon attack).

I have to agree with Cosmo. I now use rifle for both pve and PvP and I never charge it unless
I need it to stun the enemy, usually when I am 1v1 vs a warrior or a warrior is chasing me
(seems to stun for a little longer than fireball). I otherwise just spam away while not using skills.

U don't use skills? I don't think there is a 1/2 GCD after a weapon attack (testing) but there is after a skill, so if u weapon then skill quickly ur weapon will be off cd (Flamestrike/Charward) or close to it (gun). So essentially u can squeeze in a skill between AA

Hehe, of course I use skills. Maybe I should have said "while waiting for skill cooldown" rather than
"while not using skills" to avoid confusion....
