I think you just need to have some self control. As for these crates, just like anyone else I would hope to get a good item or two. But I decided I'm not going to buy crates to open. Instead whenever I manage to loot one from a boss, I spend the plat to open it. So far that has only happened 3 or 4 times, so that's the ones I have opened. I have purchased a bunch others to merch, but I simply sell those for the quick profit. If that doesn't work, then another idea is to decide you will open one crate every week, or 5 crates every week, or whatever, but decide on a certain amount and stick to it so you don't waste all your money.
