1v1 Tournament, March 17th


Signups are now closed!
All entries from this point on will be held as reserves in case someone steps back prior to check in.

Important: Check in will start 30 minutes before the event and end 10 minutes before the event. (17:30-17:50 GMT +0) All players must check in within this time frame or they will not be allowed to compete. To check in use the following template:

Update: Since respecs will be free through the Monday the 18th, respecs will be allowed during the tournament. This means you may respec between 2 matches, but you may not respec during a match, as it would be too time consuming. Also if you wish to respec, do it ASAP.

The time has come to sharpen your swords, string your bows and clean your rifles once again. It is finally time to show who you are and how good you really are. It is time to find out who is the best of the best in pvp. No more hiding behind warriors and waiting for mages to mana heal you. It is time for a 1v1 Tournament!

What is this?

This is a one on one single elimination tournament with best-of-three matches. The winner of the matches will proceed to the next round. Brackets will be posted in this thread at the start of the event.

How?


One of the Organizers will invite both players in a party and find a suitable pvp lobby to conclude the match. Matches will be played in one of the spawn room. After a match is complete, the Organizer will proceed to invite the next 2 players. Please make sure if you were victorious, you stay available. I would like to ask you all to please make these transitions happen as smoothly as possible to help the event move fast.

I hope the community will show some support towards this event and will allow 1v1 matches to be completed without disruption :)


When?

This event will take place on the 17th of March at 18:00 GMT +0. All contestants must be available at that time. The event will run as long as it is necessary for the tournament to finish.

How to enter?

This tournament is open to all Arcane Legends players with a valid STS Forum Account and a level 25-26 character. To join this event you have to post your IGN as a reply to this thread. The first 64 players will be able to compete. First come, first serve basis applies. The minimum number of entries this event requires is 16.

All participants will be required to check in 15 minutes before the event starts, via PM . Please note, that if you fail to check in, you will not be able to compete in the event! This is due to a large number of players failing to turn up in the previous event.

Example: "/t genuinous checking in"
Matches

-All matches will be best of 3, so you will have to beat each opponent twice in order to progress to the next round
-All matches are to be played at one of the spawn areas of the ctf map
-Matches will start after a countdown by the organizer: “rdy, 3, 2, 1, go”
-Both players must be at full hp and mana, as well as having all their skills ready to use before the battle starts
-Players may only use any attack or skill after the organizer said “go”, no skills (vengeful blood, combat medic, arcane shield, etc) may be used prior to “go”
-Players can charge their attacks before go (but not use)
-If the organizers decide one of the players attacked too early, that one battle has to be replayed, no matter the outcome
-No restrictions on pets, but pet skills may only be used after “go” as well
-Ties will be replayed and considered to be no-win for both players

Additional Rules

-Blackbeard’s Nefarious Hooks will be banned from the tournament.
-Respecs are allowed inbetween matches, but not during them. Also you may change gear/pets whenever you wish
-No additional fighting and NO FLAG CARRYING during the event!
-Semi-Finals and Finals will be best-of-five to reduce luck
-DO NOT forget to check in before the tournament
-DO NOT message organizers unless they message you first
-While in the 1v1 zone avoid talking and chatter right before and during matches
-Players who are not responding to pm's by organizers will be removed from the event and considered to forfeit
-Players who do not abide rules and distract the running of the event will be removed and banned from further events

The battle went on for over 10 min until his HoR failed and I beat him lol so this tourney should be interesting :) and btw I think raxin and jackyll MAY have some competition this time - idk yet I haven't tried lvl 25 bronze warrior is staying 22 until the 15th :)

Yes you need different skills to fight different classes, but so do they. So there is no advantage to anyone by requiring only one skill set, however allowing respecs would be unfair towards many players who do not have enough plat to respec for each round. Look at it as a challenge ;)

If someone else drops out, Ink you'll be the first one to be in. As it is a bit messed up situation, should nobody decide to drop out I will allow you to check in with everyone else, and if someone fails to show up, you'll be allowed to replace them. This condition only applies in this case and I won't do this for people who post their names after I closed signups!

All entries from this point on will be held as reserves in case someone steps back prior to check in.

Important: Check in will start 30 minutes before the event and end 10 minutes before the event. (17:30-17:50 GMT +0) All players must check in within this time frame or they will not be allowed to compete. To check in use the following template:

Update: Since respecs will be free through the Monday the 18th, respecs will be allowed during the tournament. This means you may respec between 2 matches, but you may not respec during a match, as it would be too time consuming. Also if you wish to respec, do it ASAP.

The time has come to sharpen your swords, string your bows and clean your rifles once again. It is finally time to show who you are and how good you really are. It is time to find out who is the best of the best in pvp. No more hiding behind warriors and waiting for mages to mana heal you. It is time for a 1v1 Tournament!

What is this?

This is a one on one single elimination tournament with best-of-three matches. The winner of the matches will proceed to the next round. Brackets will be posted in this thread at the start of the event.

How?


One of the Organizers will invite both players in a party and find a suitable pvp lobby to conclude the match. Matches will be played in one of the spawn room. After a match is complete, the Organizer will proceed to invite the next 2 players. Please make sure if you were victorious, you stay available. I would like to ask you all to please make these transitions happen as smoothly as possible to help the event move fast.

I hope the community will show some support towards this event and will allow 1v1 matches to be completed without disruption :)


When?

This event will take place on the 17th of March at 18:00 GMT +0. All contestants must be available at that time. The event will run as long as it is necessary for the tournament to finish.

How to enter?

This tournament is open to all Arcane Legends players with a valid STS Forum Account and a level 25-26 character. To join this event you have to post your IGN as a reply to this thread. The first 64 players will be able to compete. First come, first serve basis applies. The minimum number of entries this event requires is 16.

All participants will be required to check in 15 minutes before the event starts, via PM . Please note, that if you fail to check in, you will not be able to compete in the event! This is due to a large number of players failing to turn up in the previous event.

Matches

-All matches will be best of 3, so you will have to beat each opponent twice in order to progress to the next round
-All matches are to be played at one of the spawn areas of the ctf map
-Matches will start after a countdown by the organizer: “rdy, 3, 2, 1, go”
-Both players must be at full hp and mana, as well as having all their skills ready to use before the battle starts
-Players may only use any attack or skill after the organizer said “go”, no skills (vengeful blood, combat medic, arcane shield, etc) may be used prior to “go”
-Players can charge their attacks before go (but not use)
-If the organizers decide one of the players attacked too early, that one battle has to be replayed, no matter the outcome
-No restrictions on pets, but pet skills may only be used after “go” as well
-Ties will be replayed and considered to be no-win for both players

Additional Rules

-Blackbeard’s Nefarious Hooks will be banned from the tournament.
-Respecs are allowed inbetween matches, but not during them. Also you may change gear/pets whenever you wish
-No additional fighting and NO FLAG CARRYING during the event!
-Semi-Finals and Finals will be best-of-five to reduce luck
-DO NOT forget to check in before the tournament
-DO NOT message organizers unless they message you first
-While in the 1v1 zone avoid talking and chatter right before and during matches
-Players who are not responding to pm's by organizers will be removed from the event and considered to forfeit
-Players who do not abide rules and distract the running of the event will be removed and banned from further events

Make sure you are online and you check in when the tourney starts. I know you asked to be in since the start, but I can't eliminate anyone else in order to accommodate you. You will be subbed in when someone fails to check in. I'm afraid there should be quite a few of them...

If you think that a crucial skill of yours fails or misfires, call for the match to be stopped. Alternatively you can play through the match and then raise the issue with the organizer running your match, it will be their call in the end either way. If the organizer decides that the misfire/skill fail did not affect the outcome, then you will not be allowed to replay it. Long story short: The organizer is the referee, they call the outcomes :)

If you start your match with an almost unhappy pet, then you deserve to lose :P Looking at actual failures of skills or hitting nearby players, and not players not being smart :)

Next time respecs will not be allowed at all during the whole tournament :) The reason why it is allowed is the fact that it's free at the moment. And you saw how long some matches drag on, imagine adding another 2-3 mins for respecs between each fight...

Suggestion: make next tournament ctf fight with teams. Max 4vs4 cause need judges inside, or dunno, maybe GMs can judge in some better way 5vs5 teams? Ofcourse there should be time limit. If no 5 flags is earned, the winner is team with more flags. If there is tie, team who earned last flag won. If its 0-0. Then team who killed more ppl win. If tie, then judge choose.
That would be real CTF tournament! :-)

Good idea ishy, I will do next time. The top 8 is made up of warriors: Norbeh, Xcs and the other 6 are rogues.

And a ctf match is impossible until private hosted lobbies are introduced. Might do a 2v2 however, but likely stick to 1v1 for now... We'll just have to wait on STS with that :)

Luck of mapping is always an issue. You could've had your first round against vyridiana and then you'd have been out right away. If everyone is specced for an average build, ie not a class specific 1v1 build, then I say things are even. It is gonna take a lot more skills (and yes, maybe more luck too) to win the event that way.

But I do suggest some 1v1 tour on class against...

well I have to say best w v w player might not be the best w v r , w v s player. there is a very simple way which is fair to all.

randomly select 5 from all the anticipators for each classes....then make it easy.

For example, it is more fair for sor class, since if less play sor, the chance being selected will be more. And for war, lots play, so chance for being selected will be less....

So this will put the players for each class into some kind of balance.

Heh, i killed a warrior on this tournament and in this time the mage shield was the exact same as scorch's shield nowadays. All we need is better mage weapons and fix the skill swapping mid-battle.

Still think something is wrong if a class on the combat triangle cannot compete against one other.

So far, its Warriors > Mages > Rogues => Warriors. A warrior has a 50% chance to kill rogues, and a 100% chance to kill mages...
