data plan question

Question, if i left my cell phone connected to internet while i was asleep on my homescreen, does it use my data plan? Or only if i browse internet an stuffs?

Also i start a new job orientation at 3:30pm ,its 11:54am now, uts a very fine dining restraunt, im nervous as heck lol, wish me luck

It might use your data plan for scheduled tasks such as mail fetching or maybe notifications from apps such as Facebook. Disconnecting from the Internet probably helps save your data plan.
