This question has probably been answered already. Anyways, I was wondering what is better: more health or more armor? For warrior? For mage? For rogue?

For mages , it's health, and I think it's the same for warriors and rogues.

armor for warrior, but a little bit of both really,
if you look at any amulets its always a trade off of more health for more armor

just look at the rings"

Problem is we've never been told what armor really means. What does 10 extra armor do for me? I have no idea!

I know what 10 health points does for me. In PL 10 armor would be better than 10 health points, but here I have no idea. I assume point vs. point armor is still better. But is 20 armor better than 40 health points? I have no idea.

The only way to know would be to do a 1-on-1 pvp and test different gear against the same enemy with the same gear and see the results. Hopefully someone will do this soon. Or hopefully STS will actually give some more information on how armor damage reduction is calculated.

I still don't get what armor does... Lol.

I still think health is better but like Energizeric said, we really don't know.

Ok, so let's figure this out....

The numbers obviously change at each cap, and depending on the level of the enemy. But in this example, MonkeySphere gives a range of damage reduction from 23%-46%. Based on this example, let's assume the range of damage reduction is from 0% to 50% representing no armor to max armor possible. I'm sure it can get higher than 50% if you were fighting a much lower level enemy, but let's assume you are doing PvP or doing Elite PvE, so the enemies are similar level to you.

At current cap level, the max armor a warrior can have is somewhere in the 1200-1300 range. So let's assume you get 50% damage reduction if you have 1250 armor. That means each point of armor would be good for 0.04% damage reduction. If you have 4000 health, then 0.04% would represent 1.6 health points. If you have only 2500 health, then 0.04% represents only 1 health point.

So based on the assumption that MonkeySphere gave a real example and did not just make up the numbers, it seems that a point of armor is about 1.6 times more valuable than a point of health for a warrior, but for sorcerers and rogues they are probably pretty equal.

We have been told what armor is ener (atleast I think) during L16 cap didn't devs tell us armor is damage reduction?

He said something like 500 armor is like 4% DMG reduction

This is what armor is:
Rogues use Aimed shot and it does a critical hit.
Normally, if you had no armor, it would instant kill you. But armor will make it less. Suppose the critical hit did about 900 dmg.
You have 500 armor. The armor takes the damage and what's left over damages you.
900-500=400, therefore you will take 400 dmg.

Health is different. It's how big your Health pool is. No health, dead.
Suppose this warrior had 1,200 health. Str gives health. If he didn't use str gear, he would have dropped to 500 health. A rogues aimed shot does critical, 900 dmg. 1,200-900=300. It would leave you at 300 health.

However, armor and health work together.
Warrior has 1,200 health. He also has 700 armor (idk what are the real numbers). Rogue does aimed shot for 1,000 dmg. Normally, it would have done 1000 dmg and left him at 200. But this is where armor comes in. 1,000 - 700=300 dmg.
It damages him and takes him to 900 health.
As everyone knows, str gives health. If he put attribute points in dex instead of str, his health pool would've dropped to 500 with gear. So he could take 500 dmg before he dies. So a full geared warrior would be able to take 1,300 dmg before he dies.

Is this information good?

Unfortunately this is all completely wrong. This is how it works in PL, and we have been specifically told it does NOT work this way in PAL.

That number has got to be wrong. If 500 armor only gave a 4% dmg reduction then armor would be pretty useless in general. You would barely notice a difference if you had lots of armor or no armor.
