Signups closed. Event starts at April 7th, 20:00 GMT+0. If you realize you or your teammate will not be available, you may make a post in this thread to request a change. No changes are allowed after 19:00 GMT+0, April 7th.

You fought with others and you prevailed, you fought alone and none could match you. But can you find a partner, with whom you can become invincible?

What is this?

This is a two vs two single elimination tournament with best-of-three matches. The winner of the matches will proceed to the next round. Brackets will be posted in this thread at the start of the event.

How?


A ctf lobby will be locked and all matches will be concluded there. An organizers will contact each team and invite them to a party. Then when told, players can join in and play their matches. After a match is complete, players should only leave if they are told to, this is in order avoid random joining in. Please make sure if you were victorious, you stay available. I would like to ask you all to please make these transitions happen as smoothly as possible to help the event move fast.

When?

This event will take place on the 7th of April at 20:00 GMT +0. All contestants must be available at that time. The event will run as long as it is necessary for the tournament to finish.

Since my previous countdown has led to confusion, I will not post one (unless someone can help with a countdown to forums). I trust you all to find out when the event actually starts.

How to enter?

This tournament is open to all Arcane Legends players with a valid STS Forum Account and a level 25-26 character. To join this event you have to post your and your partner's IGN as a reply to a separate thread. Only one reply per team is necessary The first 16 teams will be able to compete. The next 6 entries will be held as reserves. First come, first serve basis applies.

Matches

-All matches will be best of 3, so you will have to beat each opponent twice in order to progress to the next round
-All matches are to be played at one of the spawn areas of the ctf map
-Matches will start after a countdown by the organizer: “rdy, 3, 2, 1, go”
-Both teams must be at full hp and mana, as well as having all their skills ready to use before the battle starts
-Players may only use any attack or skill after the organizer said “go”, no skills (vengeful blood, combat medic, arcane shield, etc) may be used prior to “go”
-Players can charge their attacks before go (but not use)
-If the organizers decide one of the players attacked too early, that one battle has to be replayed, no matter the outcome
-No restrictions on pets, but pet skills may only be used after “go” as well
-Ties will be replayed and considered to be no-win for both players.

Additional Rules

-If either player from a team is unresponsive or unavailable, that team will be replaced by a reserve team. If there are more than 6 unresponsive players, those who are active and available will be allowed to form new teams. This second option only applies if no more reserves are left.
-Blackbeard’s Nefarious Hooks will be banned from the tournament.
-Respecs are allowed inbetween matches, but not during them. Also you may change gear/pets whenever you wish
-No additional fighting and NO FLAG CARRYING during the event!
-Semi-Finals and Finals will be best-of-five to reduce luck
-DO NOT message organizers unless they message you first
-While in the 1v1 zone avoid talking and chatter right before and during matches
-Players who are not responding to pm's by organizers will be removed from the event and considered to forfeit
-Players who do not abide rules and distract the running of the event will be removed and banned from further events

More endgame players, and I just prefer endgame over twinking. Anyway if i make any lvl of twink event there will be 100 other twinks on different lvls complaining that they cant compete cos they are at other lvls...

Hooks are banned and so will tge new warrior item be. This will stay the same until they release the mage item and all classes will have an equal chance at obtaining these weapons. At the moment the other two classes simply dont have the opportunity to get arcane weaponry. Thus to keep class balance they are banned. Hope this answers your question.

More endgame players, and I just prefer endgame over twinking. Anyway if i make any lvl of twink event there will be 100 other twinks on different lvls complaining that they cant compete cos they are at other lvls... This is why I wanna go back to PL...atleast there devs and players set pvp at an equal level. In AL pvp is all frickin endgame :/ sts nerfs classes cuz endgamers complain one class is too op but they dont give jack about the impact on twinking. L16 lifethief does 50 normal damage LOL.

I believe mixed teams are much better when they play together, so there will be no restriction on teaming. Any combination is allowed.

I cannot move the time as I will be busy earlier. I know I cant accommodate every player around the globe even if I tried. If I have the time, I'll try doing two events 12 hours apart, but cannot do it this time around.

I was wondering if its possible to allow 20 or 24 teams to compete in the tourney..

Unfortunately I cannot do this... I already announced the event for 16 teams and I know it's quite a few. Ideally I would like to do 32 entries in each event as it is a much larger base. However I do not have my laptop currently and likely won't have it by the time the event starts. So even 16 teams might be a bit of a challenge.. Next time around maybe :)

ps.: doing 20-24 would create some imbalance as some players would have to battle more than others. I intend the layout to be even, even though players not turning up messes it up...

The tourney didnt mention the following rules:

1. NO HEALING FOR WARRIORS
2. NO PETS
3. 2VS2 WARRIORS R NOT ALLOWED TO COMPETE, U MUST REPLACE ONE WARRIOR IN EACH TEAM WITH A ROGUE OR MAGE??
4. IN CASE 2VS2 BATTLE WONT END THEN LET IT BE 1VS1?

Basicly warriors cant kill as fast as other charecters ,, therefore, u werent suppose to allow 2 warriors compete in the same team ... otherwise be patient and let the battle end..

That was my last pvp game .. shame rules dont apply...

On the other hand, STS should know that rules were broken and it wasnt fair at all, because they are involved in the tourney..

+ If you wanted a fast tourney, like was said : " to be finished in one hour" you shouldn't organize it and let somebody else who had time to do it. Just to finish faster, you changed rules.

So just to finish it faster, we had last minute rules changed.

I don't care about plats, I don't have something with the players involved in tourney, they are all good players and also friends, but the way you made this tourney is the worst I ever seen and probably me and others will not participate anymore to this kind of tourney.

You should have taken in consideration that warriors fights take much longer...also I don't know how you choose the teams for fights...

Matches were interfered with and not restarted. People who got eliminated came back in though it was single elimination. Lots of talk and chatter during matches. Rules changed mid tourney.

I see many unhappy people flaming here, so let me write down what and why happened, as well as clarifying scores on the brackets. (updated brackets with scores)

Regarding warrior v warrior in 2v2
The match between Paulsebi&Xcs and Boss&Ramyunstyle left everyone unhappy. I understand, that this was a bad match. I should have realized that if 2 warriors on each team get matched up, that will not end. Ever. Yet I ignored this, because I believed, and I still do, that while 2 warriors are difficult to beat, a well balanced team can and will beat them. Not knowing the specific classes, I allowed this match to happen. You guys kept fighting for about 15 minutes or so, before I interfered and told you to dismiss your pets. We have done this change in the previous event (with Delphina around), and in 1v1 situations this helped to end the fight. I have no intention to rush a fight, but anything over 10 minutes without any hint of ending is just too long. Other players want to compete as well and are eager to participate. While it is certainly not ideal to end your fight and get rid of your pets, I hoped that similarly to a 1v1 situation, it would resolve problems. But it didn't. After another 15 minutes of going nowhere, nobody ran out of mana or got near to die without having heal ready and back to full hp, I had to make a decision. I could watch your guys fight for 2 hours and hope that something would happen or change the rules and conditions and allow everyone else to complete their matches. I tried to be open with you by making suggestions on how to change the fight in order to get a result (ie the suggestions made by me), but they were not quite welcomed, thus I decided that you should fight without heal. This was not an ideal solution, but a fair one. All four of you had heal skill and all four of you lost it. While some of your builds certainly relied more heavily on heal than others, I thought this was the best solution available. Also I allowed you to play until 3 wins, hoping to eliminate randomness better. I hope you will understand why I had to do this, even though it is a bad solution. Apologies for allowing warrior teams, should not have happened.

Regarding rules and rule changes
All players are expected to have read and understood the rules for the event. If you sign up, I assume you know what you are signing up for. This is a basic requirement that I will hold for all participants, not knowing the rules doesn't mean they don't apply for you. You can't possibly expect me to remind every player of the rules. If and when rules have to be changed, I will either announce them in the forums if it applies to everyone (ie hooks banned), or only to the relevant players (ie the above situation). Also in no post I have ever mentioned warm up matches and such.

Regarding restarting matches
Let me clear this up, as there was some annoyance about this as well. Matches will be restarted if the organizer judges that there is something wrong and that it is obviously and heavily effecting the outcome of the fight. These conditions will always be judged by the organizer who overview the match, as he is the only one who can make the relevant decisions.
Example for matches which can be restarted:
-Skills hitting organizer (easy to see)
-Early starts (match will be stopped right away)
-Skill fail right at the start of a match (this can be easily seen and justified by organizer)
Example for matches which will not be restarted:
-Skill fails (it is hard to judge if a skill really failed or not, also we all know skills fail when they are cast at the time you are stunned) exception above
-Lag (it is a serious issue, but again, cannot be confirmed)
As you can see, matches can be restarted when there is a clear reason, which the organizer can justify. Any other reason will not be accepted. Also I would like to say, that I will trust the decisions made by Dupstepticons to be correct, but I cannot verify it as I have not seen those matches. I can only speak for matches which I have overseen and in those I went by the above mentioned principles.

Regarding the match between Lordstephen&Vistix vs Thetruebeast&Xbabydom
I have made a crucial mistake here, by advancing the wrong team. Lord and Vis should have advanced to the second round, but by accident I have advanced Beast and Baby. However after advancing Beast and Baby fought hard to achieve third place, so I will not take it away from them. After realizing my mistake, Lord and Vis fought against Serancha&Ravagerx in a best of 5 match and they lost 3-1. This was the bronze match, that might have happened. I know this is not the best solution, but I don't see any other options other than replaying the event, which would cause problems for many players.
Thetruebeast&Xbabydom will receive 50 platinum for their 3rd place (less than original since they did lose a match)
Serancha&Ravagerx will receive 35 platinum for their 4th place (no change to them)
Lordstephen&Vistrix will receive 25 platinum (due to mistake on my part and the fact that they did beat the 3rd place team)
Again, apologies for this mess.

I hope I have answered many of your questions regarding the event. I stand by the decisions I have made, even if it leaves some players unhappy. I have made some mistakes, but I believe most of the fights were unaffected and players still had fun competing. I want to congratulate the winners again, prizes will be granted in time. If you disagree with me, any decisions or outcome of your match, please send me a PM and don't go on flaming in this thread.

Note: Don't ever organize an event without access to a computer as it will lack significant organization. Will not attempt such again.

I could watch your guys fight for 2 hours and hope that something would happen or change the rules and conditions and allow everyone else to complete their matches. I tried to be open with you by making suggestions on how to change the fight in order to get a result (ie the suggestions made by me), but they were not quite welcomed, thus I decided that you should fight without heal. This was not an ideal solution, but a fair one. All four of you had heal skill and all four of you lost it. While some of your builds certainly relied more heavily on heal than others, I thought this was the best solution available. Also I allowed you to play until 3 wins, hoping to eliminate randomness better. I hope you will understand why I had to do this, even though it is a bad solution. Apologies for allowing warrior teams, should not have happened.

Regarding rules and rule changes
All players are expected to have read and understood the rules for the event. If you sign up, I assume you know what you are signing up for. This is a basic requirement that I will hold for all participants, not knowing the rules doesn't mean they don't apply for you. You can't possibly expect me to remind every player of the rules. If and when rules have to be changed, I will either announce them in the forums if it applies to everyone (ie hooks banned), or only to the relevant players (ie the above situation). Also in no post I have ever mentioned warm up matches and such.

Regarding restarting matches
Let me clear this up, as there was some annoyance about this as well. Matches will be restarted if the organizer judges that there is something wrong and that it is obviously and heavily effecting the outcome of the fight. These conditions will always be judged by the organizer who overview the match, as he is the only one who can make the relevant decisions.
Example for matches which can be restarted:
-Skills hitting organizer (easy to see)
-Early starts (match will be stopped right away)
-Skill fail right at the start of a match (this can be easily seen and justified by organizer)
Example for matches which will not be restarted:
-Skill fails (it is hard to judge if a skill really failed or not, also we all know skills fail when they are cast at the time you are stunned) exception above
-Lag (it is a serious issue, but again, cannot be confirmed)
As you can see, matches can be restarted when there is a clear reason, which the organizer can justify. Any other reason will not be accepted. Also I would like to say, that I will trust the decisions made by Dupstepticons to be correct, but I cannot verify it as I have not seen those matches. I can only speak for matches which I have overseen and in those I went by the above mentioned principles.

Regarding the match between Lordstephen&Vistix vs Thetruebeast&Xbabydom
I have made a crucial mistake here, by advancing the wrong team. Lord and Vis should have advanced to the second round, but by accident I have advanced Beast and Baby. However after advancing Beast and Baby fought hard to achieve third place, so I will not take it away from them. After realizing my mistake, Lord and Vis fought against Serancha&Ravagerx in a best of 5 match and they lost 3-1. This was the bronze match, that might have happened. I know this is not the best solution, but I don't see any other options other than replaying the event, which would cause problems for many players.
Thetruebeast&Xbabydom will receive 50 platinum for their 3rd place (less than original since they did lose a match)
Serancha&Ravagerx will receive 35 platinum for their 4th place (no change to them)
Lordstephen&Vistrix will receive 25 platinum (due to mistake on my part and the fact that they did beat the 3rd place team)
Again, apologies for this mess.

I hope I have answered many of your questions regarding the event. I stand by the decisions I have made, even if it leaves some players unhappy. I have made some mistakes, but I believe most of the fights were unaffected and players still had fun competing. I want to congratulate the winners again, prizes will be granted in time. If you disagree with me, any decisions or outcome of your match, please send me a PM and don't go on flaming in this thread.

Note: Don't ever organize an event without access to a computer as it will lack significant organization. Will not attempt such again.

LOL at "Must have taken a long time to write all this just for some unhappy people"...... actually 4 players are unhappy because of this, last minute rule change has been applied for the game : 2 warrs vs 2 warrs, which was the only fight having same classes.

And still : rules have been changed and we were in position to fight without heal.... consider a rogue without using one spell and then speak about this...

I will not post anything else, everything was said.... and ye, other fights were ok cause the rules didn't changed.

Thanks Genu for putting this together and running it. At the end of the day, we're happy you guys can make something out of the current pvp system (that is not set up to support such tournaments).

Also, a big congratulations and thanks to Genuinous. I have attempted to put together a couple of PvP tournaments, and I can say that it is not an easy feat. There is a lot of work and preparation that goes into it that no one will ever see or realize.

Could things have gone a bit more smoothly...sure. But, after putting together a few contests of my own, I must say that no matter how well you plan and try to organize, things go askew. I would suggest that the most vocal ones on this thread attempt to put a similar contest together, and you will quickly develop an appreciation for the effort and challenge involved.
