I hate to sound stuoid im very aware of game mechanics and that pure int mages arnt good as you want to hit 100% hit, but for leveling purposes in AO3 i have died so much as a mage, even being careful haha! Would it be beneficial to spec pure int(with optimal gear of course) just to heal the group?

Take a look at this thread and see if it helps -- http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?5688-Respecing-Attribute-Points . It's talking about respeccing, but the ideas work for what you might aim for in a straight build.

basically, just do 158iNT if ur heading for Lv50. else 142Int for a 45
and the other stats into STR if u wanna go purely support.
else into DEX if u wanna hit some junkies.

or: pump enough DEX for 100% Hit then rest into STR

3 suggestion for u already

Simple Terms:
mage-killa (Killing mage, bloodseeker)
Lv45- str 1 int 142 dex 87
Lv50- str 1 int 158 dex 96
mage-support (High life able to take hits)
Lv45- str 86 int 142 dex 2
Lv50- str 95 int 158 dex 2
mage-balanced (moderate killing power and survive ability)
*the 35-40 dex is to achieve 100% hit*
Lv45- str48-53 int 142 dex 35-40
Lv50- str48-62 int 158 dex 35-40

*all above stats refers to ur BASESTATS without EQUIPMENT-

Xviper . . . thnk ya thnk ya thnk ya. . .was looking for help on a spec. . . .we must discuss this. Having always gone with more than the minimum recomended int on all my toons. Even before the 1.4.1 (was it) patch that shifted the balance to int driven spell's (!?!).

Early on we had a lot of posts on Spec and advice - some of us what are not so good at math suffer on this front - percentages and 110% chance of crit vs a 135% when 100% is absolute enough. No.

Anyways main question is - How does this whole int drive spell casting power apply!?! What is the minimum int we should invest in. Used to be something like 16 INT gave 1 mana/sec unequipped regen ability - and that was good. Don't quote me on the numbers. Straight out of my hat. Would appreciate any further input. . . . going with mage-balanced spec you mention above.

mage-killa
L45- Int 138 Dex 90 Str 1
L50- Int 154 Dex 100 Str 1

Lv45 138int as in using eye with wand?
mind if u explain 138 instead of 142? as im assuming using the Apep SunKiller as the requirement?

No, as you noticed, the Khafra Helm of Thoth Level45 only requires 138 int, it then gives 8 Int so u get extra 6 point to go in for Dex :D

oh hahas(:
didnt think of that, cause for me i used to have a equipment boosting stats.
so i kinda need equip A then can equip B and the B str stats would be enough to replace A with another item which needs basestat+B stats

so it kinda make me go berserk once when i sold A away then i cant change my equipped items at all. so i was rather pissy. and decided that all items should just depend on the Base Stat to equip.

and at times i would roam the towns in just weapon(: so the equipment boosting would be a problem.

the basic problem here is that mages just do not have much armor for ao3 heavy hitters. PALLY FTW

Sorry what I stated above is inclined to a mages based character with different stats build

Simply a paladin means
Lvl45 142 str the other stats either u DEX or INT
Lvl50 158 str the other stats either u DEX or INT

Benefit is u get to wear the toughest STR armoury which gives u 112armor with a lvl45 set (4Thoth) or 124-125 armour if u wearing (4isis)

But let me warn you, Paladins are hard to train from L20-45 nowadays

Thanks for putting this into perspective Xviperr!

I was going to go all INT but after reading your post I see why it's important to put some in DEX for hit and crit boost.
