View Full Version : New Age AoA

So, I have been wondering why AoA has stopped doing what it was doing. My first impression was that maybe the Devs stopped it. AoA was a legendary guild, who I'm pretty sure all of you know, was to help out and make the game a friendlier place. By help out I don't just mean give gold or power level up, but I mean give tips, advice, or to answer any questions anyone has about the game. So first I'd like to ask, what did happen to AoA?

I was thinking, since that guild is gone, why should we let their legend die? We should follow in their footsteps an make our very own "New Age AoA" so to speak. I sent a private message to SamHayne asking him if we could bring back an AoA type guild, and he said to go for it. I personally think it would be a great idea.

I'm not to sure what a good name for this new guild would be. I feel like it should be something that resembles AoA but not a copy of it. Any name ideas are very welcome!

I'm not sure how many members of the original AoA are around, but if you are out their and reading this, please let yourself be known!

GOALS OF THE GUILD:
1) Answer questions that new players or anyone has about the game.
2) Help newer players by showing them places that they need help finding, such as the CS for example.
3) Help announce things from forums that in game players who may not have a forum account should know, such as updates, events...ect.
4) Get more people involved in the community, and suggest that people get forum accounts.
5) Stop any "Verbal fights" going on, and help keep the chat clean.
6) Host parties and events.
7) In general be a good, helpful, community player.
8) Bring back the golden age of PL

Requirements to be in the guild:
I think that the requirements should still be that you must have a forum account and be active in the community. It won't be open to everyone simply because some people would love to join just to troll and be rude, the exact thing this guild will discourage.

I really think bringing this back is a good idea, but I can't do it alone, I need the support of the community of Pocket Legends. Please share any comments you have on this idea. I'll happily put the 250,000 to buy the guild.

Thanks to you all!

Those who were part of the AoA (or GoA if you're even older than that) and are still here, they haven't quit their duties. They were appointed to AoA and GoA because they did good deeds everyday that had large impacts on the community - they performed these acts of kindness without any incentive of getting a new title.

Take two prime examples: CrimsonTider and Apollo. They've shown countless amounts of good deeds through their years with this game and forums.

So honestly, I think it's unnecessary, but I do like the positive aspect you have to it. It is important to keep the good deeds in mind, as it portrays a better community.

Everyone can be an AoA :) It's the small things that count, and you just need to be aware of them.

I believe the first generation of AoA - the original batch were the finest quality AoAs to exist. They put the most effort I have ever seen in a community guild.

Most of the rest, power went to their heads. Heck, if I recall correctly, there were many reports of you being an AoA and not acting like an AoA (bullying either players, cursing at them, etc.)

This is the main reason why AoA was shut down. I'm not saying you did anything bad or anything, but saying that players were not mature enough to handle a guild like that. They simply did not have the mental maturity required at all times.

Heck, even the GoA came close, but even some of them in the batch (I may even include myself in this) did not have the maturity required to live up to the role which is also probably one of the reasons why it was shut down.

Again, Cookiez, I'm not trying to flame you but I am laying out the facts and using you as an example.

The new age AoA is what you see now: The players in the community guild and other players simply helping others out of the goodness of their hearts.

If I recall correctly, the community guild was made for this. Anyways, good luck. I remember when basically every single forumer used to pester me about me wanting to be GoA and AoA. Good luck with the guild.

Most of the AoA's moved to The Community Guild, which is run by one of the most community-helping people I know.

I have much respect for the AoA program. That's why I chose not to apply.

In my personal experience, AoA can be described like this:

Character is who you are when no one is looking.

Many chose to seek a path of popularity and when they achieved the finish line, reverted to their true selves. As Parth stated, the first batch were the best, not because they were on more or even more knowledgeable, but because they were chosen without even knowing what was in the works. All responsibility, whether great or small, requires a certain level of maturity and this was not always the case.

AoA was cool while it lasted, but I agree most (including me) were not mature enough, I was not in it for the title but I wanted to be apart of something cool like that.

It was fun but it was a dying program before it was shut down, there were days between threads in the special section and even weeks between Devs commenting in there.

Steven the community guild was already there and we are trying to make the game better with some new ideas you didn't need to make a new guild. Lakersrockftw, I'm pretty sure he can make a new guild like this if he wants, I have seen many guilds like ours including <Support>, <Hands for Help> and a few others. But, overall, I would say <The Community Guild> (TCG) is by far the best since the <Ambassadors of Alterra>. But apart from that, Good Luck on your guild Stevenmc! ;)

I know he can :) I just said we were doing the same thing and I wish him gl too. Was just saying our guild was there if he didn't know. Sorry after I read it again seems I was saying it in a harsh point of view was just saying it as a perspective point of view. Sorry for the wrong way of saying it I will clear my post.

I was part of the 1st era AoA. I was in the last batch of recruits and I could personally see how the quality of the guild itself was decreasing as there were more and more people in the guild. This was best seen as the decreasing quality of threads and posts made into the section over time and the sort of negative atmosphere towards the end of the original program, mostly caused by accepting certain guy/s into the guild which were in a conflict with the players opinions.

There were lots of great contributers in the first AoA (especially the original AoA batch) but there also were guys who were in the guild just for the status. I myself did a little testing with a secret low lvl char. I asked kinda basic questions about the game from different AoA members and I was stunned about the lack of even acknowledging me. Some of the members were far too busy chatting with their friends in Balefort wearing fancy AoA hat and title, than to actually help me, a low lvl character with basic game issues.

AoA was a great idea. But it fell at the very moment when wrong people were invited to the guild.

Anyways, it's good of u to make a guild devoted to help people. But IMO it would be best to concentrate all of the "helping" people in one single guild, in this case The Community Guild, as it is the biggest at this moment. By doing this, the beginners will acknowledge easier that "this player helps me as he is in that guild".

I remember the original AoA's standing in Forest Haven answering questions. I don't even think they were all even that knowledgeable, but they showed so much effort, after that it was just "WOW an exclusive vanity, if I get in make more stuff for us please!"

I think this a great idea! i miss the helpful players that were around when i was new. I'd be happy to help and even give money to help make the guild. I'm always trying to help out the new players who get insulted and made fun of. Send me a pm about it sometime ign-thebigboo or supples :)

When I was but a young elf child, LwMark then from AoA helped me by giving me tips on combat and merching. I'll never forget what he has done, and aspires to teach players on how to be better should they ask.

After all;

The beginning of wisdom is the statement 'I do not know.' The person who cannot make that statement is one who will never learn anything. And I have prided myself on my ability to learn.
