Adobe photoshop would be one of the best things to get for it, but no not all use it. Tho the true adobe photoshop runs about 600-700 usd, so u could never get the FULL thing free. :)

U would just have to ask a certain person in particular (or maybe some will tell on here) but some just use apps and cheaper options. But of course ur abilities with cheaper options is more limited, and the look of things wont be as good. U get what u pay for.

I use PAINT.net (from getpaint.net, I think)
It's a free paint/image editing software.

Are you using paint.net? There should be a size option when you start a new file/project.

I use GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is very similar to Photoshop but is completely free :)

yes, GIMP rocks. btw if u r interested in animations, Adobe After Effects works great.
