edit: I'm wrong, no changes here.

Is anyone else wondering if the health and damage output of the red dragon on the red dragon slayer map has recently increased?

This map was always fairly challenging (esp without elixer) but it seems to have gotten more difficult. Most folks in the party I was in today said that this change took place a day or two ago. It IS within the realm of possibility that the party I was with was lesser-geared, but I have never seen the entire group get wiped out simultaneously as much as I did today. We were well-balanced and everyone was running with some sort of elixer, a few with combos (2x 3x 4x)

If this has been changed, I would like to know why such a change would take place so late into the campaign release.

I welcome any info or constructive feedback, lets keep complaints and trolling to a minimum. If I'm wrong, just say so! kthxbai!

Interesting observation! Tbh I haven't been slaying dragons for a week or so but I'd be interested to hear what others think. I know sometimes its as easy as pie with a good group...takes about 1min 20 secs and no deaths. But equally I've been with other partys where deaths and wipe outs occur and this slows the whole thing down and is frustrating.

Wouldn't it take a patch to make changes, I haven't seen any

Indeed, I did consider that as well... I'll give it another go in a few hours - IF i can find a party... its slim-pickin these days!

update: had some success but it was slow going, and continued talk of increased difficulty. any other input would be appreciated!

I haven't noticed any change in the map or difficulty.

I have noticed that less experienced and less disciplined players are normally playing that map now. That can account for slower kill times. People standing in wrong spots, slow to heal or rev, etc.

I think BOTH Coot and Chopper are correct. I haven't seen a patch and have heard there are few doing it now (prolly the newer plat & double xp cappers).
I was doing some this weekend, seemed the same to me. I'll do a few runs tonight fer teh lulz.

Unless all of us are aware of the developers making secret balance patches, I doubt the boss fight itself has changed. For myself, I play ERD runs only if the overall party is competent enough to take it down without too much complications. If there is at least 2 people without at least Humania gear; or stands still; or did not rez quickly enough (>3s), I simply pack my bags and switch rooms whether the run resulted in a wipe or not.

yesterday morning (CET), I tried to log onto the game and got the report the server was down for a patch/update. Didnt see anything mentioned in announcements... so yes, apparently STS DOES make 'secret' patched updates...

A friend who has been farming Fang for dragons steadily day-in-day-out also reported noticing a lower drop rate.
May be a streak of bad luck, but he insisted it was the result of a patch too... maybe some rebalancing has taken place somehow...

But wouldn't we all receive a patch when we logged back in? Maybe you hadn't played for a while and were receiving the Easter event clean up or similar?

There might be patches the developers don't want to show to the community. Such patches are called secret patches as they are only known when players started to notice the difference ingame and developers confirmed it.

I knew Minecraft have many secret patches, so I thought PL might be the same.

The majority of the hardcore players finished the quest awhile ago, so the parties probably aren't as good, for the most part, really though get two mages with twister staff, that buff is quite helpful and a bear to spam taunt and hellscream and you should do great.

Thanks for chiming in folks!

Seems I was led astray by in-game misinformation. Did seem plausible, as I was with 2 separate groups where the dragon was one-hitting the entire party repeatedly. And it seems very plausible devs can update a boss's stats without a patch.

However, I tried again last nite and found an awesome group, felt like we were taking it down in less than one minute, with minimal deaths. 3/5 of the group had completed the quest and just farming.

These factors seemed to help A TON: Bird with 4x, Pally who can survive the mage onslaught & rev

CASE CLOSED! Hopefully this will at least serve to squash the rumors a bit. I may have to make a quick-text to inform folks in-game as well.

In other news, don't use mana shield on Keeper, he copycats it!! :P jk....

Well, I log on multiple times a day, so no, no belated patch... seems secret patches still happen... although apparently not to increase the power of the Elite Red Dragon!

I think we just proved it was the party that made the difference not a secret patch! 20 more to go and I'm not doing it again....remind me please. It was certainly easier the first two times for sure.

Indeed, I think we saw how one player/toon can make a huge difference! Thanks for joining, Happiness!

Wow! Your on your third slayer quest? I completed it on Ave then started it on Avenorris, got to about 7 and just thought, oh heck no! Cudos to you for your patience and determination!

Thanks Aveea! The patience and determination are wearing a little thin tbh but I'll be content when I am done! Thanks for joining us yesterday :)
