Reserving Names?

I've heard of people reserving names before and I wanted to know more about it. I figured out that you can type in /reserve and them a name to reserve it, but I don't know that much else. Is the name only reserved for a certain amount of time before the reservation goes away? does it cost anything to reserve a name? Are you only allowed to have so many reservations at one time? Hope someone can help me with this.

This is for when a new sts game comes out. When al was in the making, you could reserve your name for around 20 plat for al, so that you can keep your name.

I think hes talking about the ppl that create characters and name them just to hold that name, its that easy bud so I guess it costs 5 plat to technically reserve a name

I think the two guys above me answered it perfectly.

There's reserving a name for the next upcoming game which usually costs an amount of platinum. Or, there's "reserving" a name as in creating a character (often a level 1) so that no one else takes that name. Often friends will do this for other friends. Some people even "reserve" names to later sell them but I'm pretty sure that goes against tos.

Thanks guys! I had heard of people reserving lots of names in recent threads and I didn't know if they would actually pay 5 plat for every one of those names, or if there was another way to do it for free.

You can do it for free by making a new email :p but that's incredibly inconvienient when it comes to transferring money, gear, and not being able to share vanities.
