A noob isnt the same as a newbie. A newbie is a new player to the game while a noob is a player that has been playing for a while but isnt getting better and isnt learning.

People juat call people noobs out of frustration most of the time or to make themselfs feel good about being not as good as someone else.

Noob: a novice or newcomer.

I think the difference between a newb and a noob is that a newb is just trying to learn the ropes and is still reasonably new, whereas a noob refuses to learn, wont accept advice etc

What's your own definition, though? In terms on the way you might use it in your own context.

Noob is different from all the others. Nub, narb, newb, etc.

Noob is like calling someone an idiot. You're annoyed with them, they're making a fool of themselves, or you want them to go away, then you call them a noob. Basically to show you're discontent with someone.

Nub is you attempting to show your superiority over them, generally in PvP. You call someone a nub to emphasize on how much better you are (or think you are) than them.

Narb is kind of a mix of the two. Calling someone a dummy and showing you're better than them, but still trying to use a word that isn't entirely overused (but it really is) while doing so.

Newb/newbie is the nicest way of saying so. Pretty much just refers to an actual new player to the game, whereas a noob is saying someone acts like a new player.

Well if everyone is gonna be all serious then we can't neglect that the word is also used as a term of affection between friends.
Being a slang term it will resist strict definition as its mutabitily is the essence of its novelty.

Ooh funny thread!
Noob: Someone who just doesn't listen to what I, being the superior being, has to say. This is generally the attitude of everyone who calls someone else a noob.
EDIT: Ninja'd :)

A noob - Someone that lacks skills and abilities for a video game. Someone who cannot master a game and has trouble playing a game.
