When I bought Winter Fest Tinsel Talon, I mainly did it due to it’s rarity and for collection purpose. I thought I had all the best gear already and didn’t knew what else to spend my money on. I spent months looking for a seller and finally found one. This was back in 2013.

In this post, I want to compare Winter Fest Tinsel Talon against Jewel Thief’s Platinum Talon which is the most commonly used weapon for level 15 warrior twinks.

I really didn’t use my Tinsel Talon at all until recently. I always used my Platinum Talon since I found it to be better and a more balanced option. But when I started to think about it, the benefits from the Tinsel Talon seemed to be better, and I think a lot of people hasn’t realised this yet.

To give you a better view of the two weapons, here are their stats:

Winter Fest Tinsel Talon Base Req: Level 15, 5 Base Dex As beautiful as it is deadly. 21-26 Damage, 0.7 Speed, 4 Dex, 2% Hit, 2% Crit

Jewel Thief’s Platinum Talon Base Req: Level 15, 35 Base Dex A thrown weapon! 16-21 Damage, 0.7 Speed, 7 Dex, 4% Hit, 2% Crit, 1H/s, 1 M/s, 2 Armor

And here is the two weapons compared to each other (no need to show after Rage since the differences will be the same):



As we can see, the Tinsel Talon has higher damage but lower Hit and Armor. I liked the thought of playing defensive and favoured the Platinum Talon due to it’s defence and balanced stats. But after calculated on it, the +7 DPS will make a big difference in a fight.

Let’s say a fight lasts for 5 seconds. That means 35 (5 * 7) more damage with Tinsel Talon compared to Platinum Talon. 35 Health of a 605 (common warrior health pool) is equal to 5.78 % (35 / 605). This means your will deal almost 6 % more damage which seems a lot better than +3 Hit and +2 Armor.

We’re down to decimals, but in the end it may be the difference between a win and loss. I think more people should be aware of this and start to try to obtain a Winter Fest Tinsel Talon themselves. In my opinion, that weapon is the better choice when it comes to level 15 talons.

I am not sure about how much the Tinsel Talon is worth today, but when I bought it in 2013 you could get one for around 3-5m. My guess is that this price has increased to somewhere between 5-10m today. And if you compare that price to a pink level 15 Winter Fest Snowball Launcher which is worth 30m, it is a really good price since the Tinsel Talon is a better weapon.

TL;DR: Winter Fest Tinsel Talon is my favourite of the two.
