Gear is a huge factor. At the level 36 cap with maxed gear I gained a 7:1 TDM kdr. However, at lvl41 with a magmatic claymore I was struggling to go 1:1 for the day.

1) Get the best gear possible for your level. If you are at endgame and somewhat poor, I suggest you pvp at levels 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 21, 23, or 26/27.
