There is a known problem with the default browser on android 2.1 devices and many secure websites.
You can purchase through the pocketlegends.com site with either a computer, or using an alternate browser on your device (I believe opera works fine for this).
Thanks for the replies. I was using Dolphin Browser HD, which apparently has the same issues as the default browser. I installed Opera, and that did the trick.
