They were never supposed to pick up chest, crates and eggs. I think it adds to the experience when you yourself gets to pick-up high quality loot :) however with so many eggs dropping this event and this event only, picking them up could be a bit of a hassle for those rushing farmers.

Lol my yowie stops attacking sometimes, then we have a staring contest to see if he moves...my longest has been a whole minute of bracken mobs hitting me while i watched my yowie snoozing away
They don't pick up them cuz that way we can take screenshots of our loots :)
