As mentioned above, the fastest way would be events. When events are not active, you can farm other maps.
If you have the ability and $ you can buy Platinum and run premium maps for 105 gear, or even buy items for Platinum from the store to sell for gold :)
Many players have taken quite a bit of time making guides to aquire gold. Try some searches on YouTube with key words "pocket legends farming" or "pocket legends merch"

Here are some ways to get gold.
Farm, help people level for gold, do tournaments or contests, during events try to farm as much, gold maps(awarded for highest tier in events), buying items with platinum to sell, buying items with platinum during events to sell, and lastly being a merchant(buying and selling items).
