I don't really understand the concept of vanity armor as I am thinking of purchasing some. Is it a sort of fashion that goes in the vanity armor slot and it goes over the actual armor giving it the look of the vanity armor, but has no affect on the actual armor (ex. decreases armor, hit %, etc)?

It's exactly what it sounds like, vanity armor. It's a vanity, in the form of armor.
It's just like any other vanity. You wear it over your regular stat'd gear. It has no effect on your stats.
It's like make-up: it makes you look better and it adds weight.
Its a "vanity" item that overlaps the stat'd gear. Some of them gives stats if you completed a set (ie. Dragons) in a form of ring, but pretty much most of the vanities doesn't comes with stat.
vanity armour looks pretty cool :) u dont have to buy with plat only , the dragon amours look cool too :)
