Thanks for the update, Samhayne and thanks twice-times for putting it in a new announcement so it wouldn't get buried. Most of the players realize it's not STS's fault--you guys are stuck in the same Amazon-inflicted morass we are.
Thank you very much for the ongoing information Samhayne!
I am glad to hear that our in game info is safe.
Again...thanks to you and to everyone at STS for all that you do!
You guys are amazing!
@Elyseon
I tried World of Magic but dont trie it. I like PL a thousand times more.
World of magic has laggy servers, was bumped off 3 times and its slow and boring to play.
Maybe just dowload some apps from the store and play one you like?

6:18 AM PDT We're starting to see more meaningful progress in restoring volumes (many have been restored in the last few hours) and expect this progress to continue over the next few hours. We expect that well reach a point where a minority of these stuck volumes will need to be restored with a more time consuming process, using backups made to S3 yesterday (these will have longer recovery times for the affected volumes). When we get to that point, we'll let folks know. As volumes are restored, they become available to running instances, however they will not be able to be detached until we enable the API commands in the affected Availability Zone.
This sounds more like a "Alot of stuff is still messed up, will be quite a bit of time until everything is good"
They have not fixed the same prob that they have had
So... what penance for Amazon will you guys demand after the dust settles? Credits for future service is boring. I'm thinking more like one or more of:
* Seppuku
* 40 "hail Steve Jobs"
* Stocks and pillories
* Being forced to stand on a street corner in downtown Seattle with a sign around it's neck reading "I failed Distributed Systems 101"
Not surprising. Knowing the ins-and-outs of the system so well, they needed to gimp themselves somehow.
