i call it feminin football
Were you trying to headbutt the ball?
Because, just so you know, you would've ended up on top of the guy in blue and headbutting his head.
Or stomach.
Safety first.
I mean, shoulder =/= loads. And they only wear one helmet, silly goose!
And considering severe brain damage, and shattered bones were pretty of the norm for a player injury before modern padding was a thing, I'd say the padding argument doesn't cut down on the brutality of the sport. Only now there are ways to help avoid serious, life changing injury. Although it does still happen. Padding can only take away so much pain when you're being crushed by a 260 pound linebacker running at 18 mph (actual averages).
But rugby no doubt most alpha male sport.
I didn't need to specify, I already explained how what I said was correct. Not my fault if you chose to interpret it wrongly.
Plus, regardless of the fact that you tried to throw me off by mentioning shinpads and then changing to knees. You already replied with "ya they do", so you actually did say that footballers wear knee pads anyway.
PS handegg is a soft sport <3
I agree that rugby is the true alpha male sport and American football is right behind it or tied with ice hockey. I haven't personally played ice hockey that much but I've played both American football and "soccer". I played as halfback and **** was real. I played in the adult team as a 17yo and I was against 20-30 something linebackers. Ouch.
Do teams actually have players that are like just for fighting in ice hockey or is that just in movies?
Not necessarily only fighters but most teams have at least 1 big guy whose purpose is to be the physical intimidation so opponents won't go straight to goalies face. They also try to mess up opponents rhythm of the game by tackling or doing small dirty deeds like swiftly hitting with the stick to opponents calves when they pass by. Aggravating and intimidating, that's today's ice hockey's fighters.
Ice hockey is my favourite sport.

one time i went to a street fight and a hockey game broke out
Hockey is scary. I remember one time in middle school someone hit me with their stick and it basically broke in half. It's still a fun sport, though.
The only hockey I ever played was in the street and having to move the goal every time a car came. And also the majority of the time it ended up with everyone beating eachother with the hockey sticks.
My fav, when I was big into hockey was Esa tikkanen - his posision was usually referred to as "instigator"
He was nicknamed "The Grate One" (a pun on teammate Gretzky's moniker "The Great One") for his ability to irritate opposing players, often just by talking to them in his Finnish-English "Tikkanese" or "Tiki-Talk."
Ahh, all I really know of ice hockey is what I've seen on tv. So I just wondered if goon was realistic haha
I luv hockey

Speed day. I'm old. :/
My run today.Attachment 106948
That is pretty impressive. I averaged a 5:45/mi in high school. I haven't been a competitive runner since (almost 20 years ago.) My son surprised me at the beginning of the semester and asked to try out for his middle school cross country team and made it to the state meet last weekend. Kinda re-lit my fire and I am running in my first 5k in since high school in 3 weeks. I do not anticipate regaining my old speed, but if I can finish sub-20 min... I will be happy.
My buddy Jayden won state on Wednesday. (Utah)
I made it to State all four of my years in highschool. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, you just need to stay invested.
Truth.
My goal is to get my legs back, and hopefully do a sprint triathlon next summer, and build from there. The cycling comes easy as that has been my drug for the last 10 years, but I have missed running. I would love to complete a full IronMan triathlon before I hit 40, but not sure my knees can handle 26+ miles of running.
@Will - He did.... horrible in state. Finished approximately 2 minutes slower than his regional time. I don't know if running with 300+ boys intimidated or what. He said his knees were bothering him, but haven't bothered him all season, so who knows. Could be a growth spurt. He wants to run in high school next year so I am going to start his training in a few weeks to start getting him built up for the extra mileage.
