Peace out.
It's not unheard of, I succumbed to it too with too much partying. The key is to remember where your priorities are and why you are there.
Out of HS, I had a near perfect GPA. Going into college, first semester, I barely had a 2.5 GPA. It sucked. However, it was completely my fault. I chose not to be responsible & do what I needed to do. Now, however, I have a 3.5 GPA and am slowly recovering from the mistakes of my freshman semester. That's not to say that it was not fun!
It's normal and believe it or not, most people who take core classes their first semester of college do experience turbulence. Ease up, take a semester of general education classes and then when your confidence is restored and you are ready to handle core classes, tackle them again.
College is not just about intelligence. There are many intelligent people in college. However, it is about learning to utilize that intellect to help you become successful in your career choice!
