Few Ideas.
1) Gears drop from chests
2) Random houses with boss inside, kill to loot gears
3) Killing players/bosses give EXP, allowing you to unlock abilities.
If current equipments are allowed, this will become unappealing to many players. Those playing for years will always win, leaving new players out of the excitement.

Either players start gearless, have them look for loot around the map, kill players for loot. Or, all players enter with the same gears, no awakes, no prominent procs.
Only reason Pvp is dead can be simplified as Gears > Skill.
If your goal is to attract everyone to this mode, aswell as to other gamemodes planned, then it is best to eradicate this Gear > Skill situation. Otherwise the billionaires would definitely love this mode.

I don't know which Battle Royale games you played so far, but I can't think of one that let's people enter with better gear than others.

There are problems with endgame pvp lower levels don’t want to face such as overpriced items and proc based fights. But from what I’m seeing you guys are working on some sort of honor gear system in which I would be happy to level up to 76

Looking at the specs, the only real issue that will come out of this in the end will be the 15sec long warriors Juggernaut skill, the horn of renew 2sec invulnerability and the ability to make the both these skills cool down extremely quickly (heroic churro haste, ebon armor haste and Juggernaut mastery).
Almost the same can be said for mages in terms of invulnerability and damage reduction.
The free usage of gears again segregates players on rich and poor.
So again only the rich and op will win but, as u said it's a test ,I hope strongly there's a change in the concept of bringing equal gears.
I'm sure you know why pvp was very active in early AL as the main reason was the entry into pvp did not require a huge investment, just a couple of items(no awakes), one pet, any one para for good.
Now it's too much of an investment into pvp that's why not many one CAN come here even of they tried.
But we want to enjoy pvp on equal terms.
This is not doing your paying players a bad deed.its just pvp and shouldn't be giving handicaps in a pvp zone.thats just my opinion.

Will it be forever no kill/death records? Or just for this test there's no kill/death record but when it goes live, there will be kdr?
Some people make fun of you if you have negative kdr and call you noob. Some guilds won't accept you if you have negative kdr. There are some toxic players in pvp which discourages other players to touch pvp ever again.

Battle Royale is a skill based game, how will this be applied in game when people will have gear/pet/jewels advantages.
Unless same gear is provided in final version where we have to buy with plats, excited to see how this goes.
