Safer Tades with new Gold Cap + Gold Amount Clearly Displayed

Players do trades every day that involve more than the gold cap. It's risky business, there's no denying it. In order to protect players who do trades in items that are valued at more than the gold cap from getting scammed, the gold cap could be raised.

Raising The Gold Cap

This is a suggestion to raise the gold cap (the amount of gold that can be on a character, stashed, traded, or bought/sold on the CS) from 9,999,999 to 50M or even 100M, while leaving the "Unlimited Luxury" achievement at the present 9,999,999 gold amount.

The text for the "Unlimited Luxury" achievement currently says:
"Awarded for accumulating the maximum gold count! (9,999,999)."

It could simply be changed to:
"Awarded for accumulating 9,999,999 gold."

Then when the gold cap is raised to 50M or 100M, the achievement is unchanged, while players could then safely do trades valued at up to the new gold cap within the trade window.

Adding Clarity To The Amount of Gold In A Trade, CS Listing, Stash, Characters, Etc.

Additionally, since there are no delimiters (such as a comma) for the amount of gold displayed in trades, I've seen that some people don't realize a 0 is missing during a trade, and then they sell an item for a lot less than they intended. For example, they intended to sell for 4000000, but didn't notice the 0 missing, and sold for 400000. Ouch! Yes, they should pay better attention, but there is also room for improvement. With an increase to the gold cap, it would become even more important to add clarity to the amount of gold being traded.

To remedy this, I suggest two things. First, for ease of reading, the digits be divided into groups using a delimiter. For example, instead of displaying as 4000000, display instead as 4,000,000. And second, display, in parenthesis after the comma-delimited amount, an abbreviated form of the amount of gold involved, such as K for thousands and M for millions. Or simply spell it out: Million, Thousand.

For example, delimited and abbreviated (FWIW, I favor this approach):
Gold: 4,000,000 (4M)
Gold: 29,500,000 (29.5M)
Gold: 567,000 (567K)
Gold: 50,500 (50.5K)
Gold: 500

For example, delimited and spelled out:
Gold: 4,000,000 (4 Million)
Gold: 29,500,000 (29.5 Million)
Gold: 567,000 (567 Thousand)
Gold: 50,500 (50.5 Thousand)
Gold: 500

The gold amount should be comma-delimited (and abbreviated where appropriate) everywhere in the game and not only in the trade window, so please also add to the CS, stash, characters, etc. for the purposes of clarity and consistency.

Not every country uses a comma to mark the thousands and millions, some use a decimal point, and as a result, I realize the delimiter may have been left off in PL to avoid confusion among our international community. However, if the comma is adopted and displayed along with the abbreviated or spelled out amount of gold, as shown above, then there really should be zero room for confusion on the amount of gold being offered in the trade window.

These are necessary and easy improvements, and I would be grateful to see them in a forthcoming update to Pocket Legends.

The fact that items nowadays cost way too much show that PL is in desperate need of a gold sink. So IMO the first suggestion should be something brilliant to put an end to PL's inflation.

How about decent non-tradable pink sets which are slightly inferior to farmable ones, which can be bought for gold?

I wonder why sts decided to keep the cap relatively low and why they limited it to 7 digits. Maybe adding more digits takes up more memory? There's gotta be a reason why they left it at 9,999,999 rather than 10 mil.

Memory/resources with support for more digits is not a concern. Back in the day, 7 digits was more than sufficient.

Keep in mind that various items have exploded many times in value over the years, so today, their costs are much, much more than they were 1, 2 or 3 years ago - much more than anyone ever could have anticipated. Each new expansion brought new highs. Specifically, items that no longer drop and/or are extremely rare hold immense value today (think uncrafted "Black Dragon" sets, L71 Elites, and so on). I seriously doubt that STS ever saw inflation in PL coming to this level, and that they believed 7 digits was more than sufficient at the launch of the game - and it was. But that was then and this is now. With many items selling for 10M-100M today, a gold cap of 9.99M obviously is no longer befitting. IMHO, a gold cap allowing support of up to 100,000,000 (100M) is simply ideal.

I made a post that goes along with this regarding me purchasing black dragon too. I'm nearing 100m in straight gold on my account and still lots to sell. I'm gonna be purchasing black dragon with the gold currency alone. BUT, how am I do ever do something like this safely? And if the other person decides to take the gold and run, so what? Will that be handled? Or simply considered a petty trade dispute. I think at this point it would be an awesome option, even 100 plat to unlock for your character to be 100m instead of 10m cap would be a great option.
In that way, It could keep the amount of gold on any particular account still limited somewhat, if that was even STS concern.

I'd love to hear STS side of this though.

It will be harder for the starters and others that find it difficult to earn get gold even if its raised

Can we get any STS feedback on these suggestions and feedback threads? I scouted the few i'm active in and been up for a little while with no response. This would take away all scamming involving gold currency. Really should be raised ..

"Adding Clarity To The Amount of Gold In A Trade, CS Listing, Stash, Characters, Etc.", as noted in my opening post on this thread, is so very important and necessary, as a deceptive trade practice seems to be exploding in popularity with the scammers.

It seems that nearly 50% of all trades lately involve the deception of posting the right amount of gold in the trade window, and then updating the gold amount with one less zero right before the trade confirmation steps. It pays to look for this, and I still haven't fallen for it, but I can't say the same for everyone. With the suggestions I've given above, only people who clicked through the confirmation steps without paying any attention at all would fall for that deceptive practice.

I am very hopeful that both of the suggestions in this thread will be rolled out shortly and look forward to hearing from Sam Hayne here on these simple and necessary improvements for your PL customer base.

Well now, it's been 7 months since I posted this suggestion. Considering the inflation of PL rare and discontinued items, I think 500M would be warranted as the new gold cap.

Guys you're asking too much of sts this is a lot of work considering they'd have to add 2 or 3 digits to the current limit. That's like asking sts to stick & persevere eith the games they make. Lol not a chance in hell. Preciated cinco update but I doubt they'll do this cus its sts and they want money. Not satisfied customers.

So many ideas have been suggested for this kinda thing, but nothing has been implemented, at current situations where new elites are so high that gold cap ain't adequate they can make gear so much rare but can't increase the limits shy.

Ez procedure would be add gold bond, that would be tradable and buy-able from NPC, less say we can buy a gold bond for 5m, then for a 15m item we can trade for there gold bonds then the the persons who getting gold bond can then liquidate em for 3x5 - 15m. In cs there should be an option for asking these gold bonds rather direct gold.
