Often times you will see the developers posting in this forum over the weekend, or late at night. Yes, they do like what they do and they are not necessarily doing it because it's their job, but because they really do enjoy playing their games and participating in the community.
But everyone still has normal life responsibilities, and the weekend is often the time for those things. So no matter how much they love working, they cannot always work on the weekends. Just like everyone else, they have to cook, clean, take out the garbage, mow the lawn, pay the bills, etc. So understand that they cannot be working on the game 24/7.
As for the delay in the new client, it is my understanding that STS has finished the client and is now waiting for Apple's approval before it can be added to the App Store. They cannot release the Android client until the Apple client is also out as that would result in half of the players playing one version of the game while the other half play a different version. So as soon as Apple has approved the client, it will go live. It sounds like that will happen in the next few days.
