Ok lets say you are applying for a high-paying job, such as a lawyer. What are the real factors to consider in order to be a lawyer?
A - Good grades
B - The particular high school you went to
C - The amount of community service you've done in your high school career
D - All of the Above
E - Some of the above (also name which ones)

A) how you do on the LSAT exam (gotta pass, yo)
B) How much money you have for tuition (USD200k and up, yo)
C) how much of a can-do attitude you have. (better have a big one, yo)
I know someone who just passed her Bar, and she went through a lot of hurdles to get it. It's hard work, but not as hard as a medical degree IMO

What is also very, very, very important is if you have done any summer internships at a law firm, or worked at a law firm in some way. Trust me. They look at things like that almost as much as your grades. Most law school applicants have good grades already...they look for things that make you stand out from all the other good-graders. Same in med school. And as mentioned, good LSAT scores help as well.
BTW, may law schools are not even close to 200k. The good ones like Harvard Law, sure, but most much less.

You can start studying law now. Take highschool business ethics and law classes. Start checking out colleges and finding the requirements they have. If you're serious, go to a library and begin to read over the subject. Just to let you know though, you won't ever be getting a position as a lawyer as a highschool student. You're going to need to go to college and probably intern for a bit.
Don't get overwhelmed. Start now developing good critical thinking skills, good study habits and focus on your grades. In the summer I would look into an internship so that you can see if you actually find law interesting. LSAT prep courses would be helpful as mention before. Land the grades and be ambitious and the money for school will take care of itself (scholarships/grants). Good luck with whatever you decide to do in your life.

Karmakali, what do u mean by internship?
An internship is when you offer to work for a person or company for little/no money to gain the experience you will need to get a higher paying job later.

My understanding of it is this.....
-Graduate high school (you should be able to get some college credits from AP classes that you are taking in high school)
-College....take a basic "pre-law" track....basically any well rounded bachelors degree.
-Take the LSAT (law school admissions test your senior year of college)
-Apply to the law school of your choice....get accepted and after a MINIMUM of 3 years of grueling and mindmelting work you graduate from law school.
-Take and pass the BAR exam. (This gives you the right to practice as a lawyer).
VOILA!!!! You're a lawyer!!! Lol....

8 Years of study meaning 8 years of studying in College. High school study does not count as the 8 years. High school is to learn basic skills, while college gets you into your specific field of study.Quote:
