This is the submission thread for entries to the Design Contest - Create Fiery Weapons of DOOM!

INTELLIGENCE SUBMISSIONS

Weapon designs should be appropriate for characters with high intelligence (staves, wands, etc.)

Please read the contest announcement thread for all the details of this contest.

A good submission post will include:

• Character Name:
• Category: Which category is the weapon submission for? Str, Dex or Int? Please post to the correct thread.
• Your Items Name:
• Images of your design. What does the weapon look like?
• Written description of the weapon. Tell us about it. Why does the evil witch Silknight and her henchmen value it above other weapons to do battle with their foes.

Deadline for Submissions – Wednesday, May 18th at 11:59 PM
The cut off time will be taken from the timestamp of the forum post of your entry.

Only one entry per person per category.
If you want to change your submission you can go to your earlier submission and edit the post to change to your new submission.

Judging
Entries will be judged by the Spacetime Studios Development Team. Equal weight will be applied to judging your visual design and your written descriptive component, so please spend time on both. You can include details about possible weapon procs or effects in your description. We’ll do our best to recreate those effects in game should you win.

Remember – all designs and art MUST be your own – created and submitted by you!

Submission Agreement

This is the agreement of Space Time Studios LLC, a Texas limited liability company located on the Internet at Spacetimestudios.com ("SPACETIME"), and you ("Submitter").

This Submission Agreement (the “Agreement”) is made and entered into as of the date of acceptance, as provided below, by Submitter.

The Submitter desires to furnish SPACETIME with one or more sets of source or object code, API’s, or designs or processes for such source or object code, API’s, DVD/CD-ROM Content, multimedia software, network code, or other audio, graphic, or audio-visual assets (any of the foregoing, jointly or severally, the "Content") for review and consideration for publication by SPACETIME, on, in, or in connection with SPACETIME’s online game now known as “Pocket Legends.”

It is a condition to SPACETIME's acceptance, consideration, and possible publication of the Content that Submitter agrees to the following terms and conditions:

1. During the period in which it is considering the Content, SPACETIME shall take its standard steps to keep the Content confidential. SPACETIME agrees to take security precautions of at least the same degree of care that it takes to protect its own similar confidential materials. Notwithstanding the previous two sentences, SPACETIME or any of its affiliates may disclose all or a portion of the Content if requested or required in connection with litigation, civil investigative demand, or similar process.

2. For the purposes of this Agreement, no part of the Content will be treated as confidential, and the requirements set forth in Section 1 above will not apply if it: (a) has previously been independently disclosed to, or developed by, SPACETIME or any affiliate of SPACETIME; (b) was or hereafter becomes part of information made known to the public; or (c) hereafter becomes available to SPACETIME on a nonconfidential basis from a third party which, in SPACETIME's reasonable belief, is not, at the time such material is provided, under any conflicting legal obligation to Submitter.

3. Submitter acknowledges that SPACETIME is engaged in extensive research and development in many areas, including without limitation ongoing development of Pocket Legends and other games and communities, and other content for the consumer marketplace. Submitter further acknowledges that in the course of its business SPACETIME receives from others, including other submitters, its own employees and employees of its affiliates, numerous submissions of concepts, ideas, and designs for Content, and that SPACETIME may have developed or may in the future develop materials, or may have received or may in the future receive submissions of materials, similar or identical to those presented to SPACETIME by Submitter. Submitter understands that Submitter will not be entitled to any recognition or other consideration for any submitted materials nor will Submitter be entitled to recognition or consideration because of the use by SPACETIME or any of its affiliates of any such similar or identical material.

4. In the event that SPACETIME determines, in its sole discretion, that Content provided by Submitter may be added to, integrated into, or otherwise included in Pocket Legends and for related purposes, then Submitter will be deemed to have granted SPACETIME an irrevocable, exclusive, worldwide, royalty free, fully paid, right and license in and to the Content for purposes of use of Content in Pocket Legends, other products or services or SPACETIME, and for institutional purposes for and for the benefit of SPACETIME. The license includes all rights under copyright, and the full right to modify, edit, revise, or otherwise alter the Content. Submitter hereby waives all moral rights he or she may have in and to the Content. The license granted hereunder includes, without limitation, the right for SPACETIME to make derivative works based on or incorporating Submitter’s Content.

5. When and if SPACETIME utilizes Content, it will endeavor to provide recognition of Submitter on it Pocket Legends Internet Site; provided that failure to do so will not be a breach of this Agreement. Consideration of the Content by SPACETIME, and the recognition set forth in this Section, is the sum total of consideration to be provided to Submitter in connection with rights granted herein. SPACETIME will be under no further obligation to enter into a relationship with Submitter; however nothing in this Agreement shall preclude the parties from entering into future negotiations with respect to Content or further services from Submitter. SPACETIME shall have no obligation to return any Content to Submitter.

6. Submitter represents and warrants that (i) all Content is an original work of authorship created by Submitter; ; (ii) Submitter has the exclusive, unconditional right and authority to submit and/or convey to SPACETIME the Content and the rights granted herein, (iii) no use of Content as provided herein by SPACETIME or its designee(s) will infringe upon or violate the rights of any third party; (iv) Submitter has the right and authority to enter into this Agreement with SPACETIME and (v) no outstanding agreements exist, whether written or implied, which are inconsistent with any of the provisions of this Agreement.

7. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas without giving effect to the conflicts of law principles thereof. Any action arising out of this Agreement will be brought only in the State of Federal courts located in Austin, Texas, and Submitter expressly consents to the exclusive jurisdiction of the foregoing courts. In addition to any recovery, the prevailing party in any action will be entitled to an award of its reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs in connection with any action.

8. This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding of the parties. No waiver or modification of any of the terms of this Agreement shall be valid unless in writing and signed by each of the parties hereto.

9. In the event that any provision of this Agreement shall be declared invalid or unenforceable, such invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect the validity or unenforceability of the other provisions of this Agreement, it being hereby agreed that such provisions are severable and that this Agreement shall be construed in all respects as if such invalid or unenforceable provisions were omitted.

10. It is a material provision of this Agreement that Submitter represents to SPACETIME that he or she is over the age of 18 and fully authorized and capable of entering into this Agreement and being legally bound thereby. But for Submitter making this foregoing representation to SPACETIME, SPACETIME would not enter into the Agreement with Submitter.

ACCEPTED AND AGREED UPON BY SPACETIME.

BY POSTING IN THE THREAD BELOW, SUBMITTER AGREES TO BE FULLY BOUND BY THE FOREGOING TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

Heres one to get the ball rolling. Thanks for doing another competition, gives me a break from everyday work! Done this to get back into Photoshop, its not an incredible idea, but ive got a much better design in store for melee weapons!

The name of the weapon is DEMONIC STAFF OF FIRE or something along those lines (words are'nt my game, if you can come up with something cooler it can be changed)
Background Information:
Witch silknight was give this staff by her mother and it was her first staff. In turn, her mother was given the staff by a dwarven hermit, who had imbued the staff with fiery runes of ancient demonic power.

Description: Long ago, when the Land of Alterra was just discovered, the dragon controlled everybody with its gigantic size and power. A few decades later, the first hero's of Alterra defeated the dragon by merely reflecting his inferno breathe with their legendary Pocket Legend Shields back into his hide. This combination with the terrible fire breathe and the goodness of this Legendary shield caused a Holy Hyper Blast, turning the dragon into a baby elf, who was harmless back then. To this day, we have found out that Silknight was the great great granddaughter of the dragon who had been extremely embarrassed. Silknight had sworn to avenge what the hero's has done to her Ancestor. With her secret Blazing Wand of the Dragon, specially made by the dragon himself, Silknight plans to destroy and burn all of Forest Haven.

Details in picture: If you didnt know above the dolls head is flames, the doll is making a fist, the doll's shoes say "STS-KIX"(meaning Spaceime Studio Shoes) i was going to add on the puppet "Made In Japan" but i decided not to. The puppet was split open so it was sewn back up thats those lines dashed down it, and of course the puppet is wearing a vest with a long sleeved shirt underneath. If you dont want any puppets for weapons then could it just be a wand like the hold it and fireballs cast from its eyes or head because i worked hard on this.(enjoy the story! It took me a while to make it)
How to use weapon: So i decided to be creative and make a puppet for a weapon and the
user of this weapon will hold this weapon the head of the doll is on fire so the equipper
will be holding its stomach and basically the doll will open its eyes and mouth and a
fireball will be casted.
Procs: Chance on hit firewave and weaken(low chances for both)
Description: Deep in the forests of Foresthaven an old witch stood in her wooden cabin. This was no ordinary witch she did witchcraft and black magic and she would make little puppets witnesses say the puppets were alive others say she burned the puppets. And one day some guards went to her cabin and seen a braclete on the ground next to a window and on it was engraved "silknight" the guards took the braclete back for evidence and found out silknight was the witch's grand daughter. 17 days later.... People were shouting "fire fire fire!" Guards ran down to the cabin and it was roaring with flames and they seen a little girl crying and sobbing with a puppet in her hand. When the guards came near her the puppet opened its eyes and mouth and fireballs roared out slaying all of them. Silknight never found her grandmother again and to this day she still sits in forest haven defeating anybody that comes in her path.

The Phoenix, king of all animals, was originally meant to be the Queen of Alterra’s symbol upon the defeat of the enemy forces that had invaded the land. Silknight, however found out and instead used the Phoenix as a symbol for her evil ways. This staff is where the fire essence from the Orbs has been stored. It is not only a weapon of great power, but displays an intelligence unseen in ordinary weapons. Attempts to use it can result in rare and awesome displays of fiery destruction.

Disclaimer: I do not, and have never claimed, to know how to draw well. So when looking at this please keep that in mind. Also, I didn’t go into a lot of detail b/c I didn’t want to detract from the main design with my horrible detailing skills.

Once, In a time before mages or sorceresses had ever found their way to the land of Alterra, when only the master craftsmen of old were known, in a time when the Ancient Folk ruled over a vast and rich empire, a weapon beyond all others was built. It was a staff that took nearly a century to construct. It was designed to only be powered by one entity, The Inferno. many young warriors were sent to subjugate this colossal demon, none returned. The Inferno stormed the forge and took the staff as his own. He eliminated anything that moved, the Ancient Folk who lived fled Alterra and and formed the race of humans, who are only now beginning to rediscover this land. The Inferno set ablaze the forests in the lands we now call the Oasis, forming the vast and dreaded desert is is today. The Inferno eventually destroyed all but the great Devs themselves, who erased his code and reformed the land, leaving the desert as a monument to the great power of The Inferno. Only one powerful mage with a curiosity that burned like fire was able to uncover the secret of The Inferno. The truth broke the mind of the poor elf and she went mad with a lust for one thing and one thing only, to avenge the destruction of The Inferno.

A hungry Vyxnaar wandered into forest with an insatiable desire for bone. Vyxnaar came across an unfortunate skeleton mage who tried to overcome the hungry beast with its flame based magic. Nearly consumed by the hungry beast, the skeleton engulfed its torso in flames in turn reducing Vyxnaar to a skull and spine. No longer possessing a body, the skeleton is now trapped for an eternity within the fallen beast’s mouth. It was not long before Silknight came across the grizzly sight and started devising ways to turn the poor skull into a weapon. She was able to channel the skeleton mage's burning mental energy to Vyxnaar's damage tolerant skull and spine to create a durable weapon of doom, anguish, and destruction.

Name: Flame Reaver of Doom (aka the 'Flaming Moogerfooger of Doom')

Description/backstory: In eons past, the Dark Lord Beelzebubba send forth dark minions to prey upon they weak of Arterra. One of these, a young mage named Silknight, betrayed her people for the promise of eternal life, but in return Beelzebubba forced her to wander Arterra hunting for weak souls to fuel her immortality. He bestowed upon her the mighty and powahful Flame Reaver of Doom which encases its target in hellish pwnageflames and upon the poor victim's passing from the living, the Flame Reaver of Doom steals their soul in order to power not only its dark flames, but Silknight's very own immortal wretched soul.

She joined the evil army of Skeller Krunch, and so the army of Meathead, The old champion of Alterra named Brom Dandy and Barbrax the demon.
After torturing many citizens of Forest Haven, she proved herselft to be mighty as well fiercefull.
She was granted her own army and continued demolishing houses en crushing innocent adventurers.
After she hold of an legion of the Queen, she was granted an mighty staff.
This staff was forged by the flames of Barbrax the Demon.
The staff posseses an incredible power only Silknight can unleash.
Some say the flaming orb on the top hold the soul of Barbrax.....

Procs: Burn.
If you use the burn of this weapon in combination with weakness, you get an new combo named: Flaming energy drainer. (double effect of weakness)

Ps. Devs the skulls actually needed to flame, but im not so big artist :)

Item Discription: The witches minions used to use this broom to clean the evil witches lair until the currupted orb of nature was brought back.
since then this normal broom stick has obsorbed some of the dark nature orbs power and now and inferno rages within this broom of doom.

Item proc: Knightmare, Stun, burn, steam, and has aoe splash damage.

Ifaistos the god who made weapons in ancient Greece created it but one day a young boy climbed to Olympous and tried to steal it but when Ifaistos tried to stop him it was s too late...the boy ran away!!!he travveled for miles when he saw a shining thing....a portal to WORLD OF ALTERRA..curious ran in to it but the evil enchantresses stoped him and took the weapon from him!!!!

Weapon: Silknight's All-Seeing Brainstaff of Doom

Description: This staff was made from the brain of the last of the oracles and the eyes of Alterra's greatest heroes that have fallen to Silknight's army. It allows her to have a 360 degree view of the battlefield at all times. Nothing can sneak up on her as long as she holds this staff. The brain doubles her intelligence and gives her the ability to steal mana from her opponents. Some heroes have survived encounters with the staff by gouging out some of the eyeballs. But Silknight never has any problem finding replacements from the heroes she continues to kill. Perhaps one day a true hero will be able to get the staff away from her and finally defeat her once and for all.

Name: Matilda's Magic Goo of Doom
Description: For medicinal purposes only
History: Where do all wizards, witching, sorcerers, and apprentices go for their everyday goods? Matilda's Magic Medicines! One could argue that was incorrectly named, seeing as the founder was named Rick, a female Rick to be precise, but no one really cares. This goo is some of the last of it's kind, sure, it never runs out, but it can never be stored out side of the original, unbroken jar.
Notes: Sparks come out of the jar, goo bursts into flame when in flight, throws the goo, AOE 'spash' damage
Proc: Burn/break armor.
Colors: Oh, heck, make it come in everything!

Description: An orb with the power of the Magma Chasm empowered into it!

History: A long time ago...
Forest Haven was a happy place in which all of the people of Alterra could socialize and make new friends. But one dark day, Silkknight had an idea. Silkknight opened a chasm in the outskirts of Forest Haven to conduct some evil magic. The experiment backfired and killed itself. The power of magma chasm was too much for Silkknight to handle Silkknight was forced to seal the power away to keep it from being used against her. Silkknight empowered an orb with the power of the magma chasm and tossed the orb into the chasm. It was then closed shut, away from any vengeful eyes. Then the orb was found by a brave enchantress who was practising her magic. She attached a wooden rod to it and used it finding it very powerful because of the immense accuracy it had. But as an enchantress of Alterra, she refused to abuse its power. Before she died, she passed the powerful Magma Chasm Staff to her dear friend. The staff was lost in a war with the zombies and was never seen again until it was found yet again by an elderly enchanter whom it was buried with. When the time came for a sneaky adventurer to try to obtain the power, he realized that the staff was gone! There was writing in the ground however. It read:
Do not look further for the Staff as it has been raided.
Prepare for the war to come as I will use this to bring destruction to the world of Alterra!
One of Silkknights men raided the grave and used the power to make Silkknight more powerful then ever!

Procs: I think that the procs should be up to the devs but if it was my choice, i would make it have high crit (I dont know if thats a proc) and/or "leaping fire" effect in which fire would burn an enemy one time, leap to another, and repeat. If no enemies were near enough, the burn effect would wear off. The Leaping Fire would only happen occasionally.
Also, sorry if this kind of counters the "true" history of Alterra

• Written description of the weapon: This weapon was discovered in a sand town cave. Stories were heard about ages ago in early Alterra that there were Sorcerer's, Enchantress', and Warlock's running around destroying everything in their path. Their leaders name was Fire Loops, named after his legendary weapon. Legend says that this group of evil Fire Mages were defeated by their rivals, Water Mages. Fire Loops had no strength left in him and he knew he couldn't leave such a powerful staff on the ground for Water Mages to use, with his last bit of power and strength he cast a spell that put the legendary staff in a hiding place to never be found again. Centuries later, while the devs were making the Sand Caves one of the Golems told them that he found a weapon, and at last... the legendary staff had been found.

Background: The witch, Silknight, had been on her annual trip to greet Satan in the deathly pits of hell. Unfortunately, the spicy bean burrito that she had just eaten didn't quite agree with her digestive system. She pleadingly asked Satan if she could use his restroom, and he finally gave in, as he could see her face beginning to turn bright red. Silknight ran into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her. After she did her business, she took a closer look at the toilet she had just used. She could see the massive amount of power that it held, and at once, decided that she HAD to have it. So, she teleported the toilet back to Forest Haven. Silknight then began the process of forming the toilet into a weapon. She sent it to the forgeries to be crafted into a staff. It returned, bursting with flames of destruction, but Silknight needed more power. She gathered the mighty Orbs of Nature, and placed each, one by one, into the toilet... and then she flushed... Balls of fire immediately began shooting into the sky, and The Staff of Satan's Toilet became active!

Looking around to find a way out he see's the Emerald shinning so he picks it up and uses the power of the wand to explode the surrounding area to get out. After the battle he shows Silknight the power of the Wand and Silknight recognizes it as her friends wand. So, Silknight use the orb's to enhance its power to use fire. A long long time ago, before writing was invented, people told each other about the horrifying D'raak. This monster was swift, mean, strong and was always hungry for more. Hunting down men, women and children. To protect theirselves from this mighty beast they sent the most fierce warriors to kill it, none came back. But then there was a group of a bird, a bear and an elf. Together they slayed the beast and the warrior ripped his head of. The head was burned in a magical fire, destroying the skull. Victorie was never sweeter but if only they knew what the body could cause.....

Silknight knew the legendary tales. And after stealing the orbs (s)he wanted to grant herself the power of D'raak. By using an army of digging skeletons the remainings of D'raak were once again feeling the air. And with the power of the orbs she combined them to make the ultimate weapon for destruction: the fiery bonestaff of D'raak. This weapon gets it's energy from the power of D'raak combined with the power of the orbs, making it enormously powerfull. This weapon shoots balls of this energy and steals 1/10 of the damage, healing the wielder.

Description: "In the beginning, there was nothing. There was only warmth and then a promise was made." Riya - the sun goddess - blessed the people of Alterra life and good harvest. The cycle of encounters and farewells continued with favor. Until one day, Alterrans achieved abundance on their own and there was no need to be faithful to their promise. However, it wasn't without any disappointment. Alterrans became corrupted and grew twisted with their wealth and independence. Silknight, the lord of Alterra and a skilled wizard, has risen to power and wanted to gain more. However having known Riya's power, he felt vulnerable and weak. So in desperation, the evil witch Silknight somehow has captured the sacred Orbs of Nature from Riya and corrupted them with her magic. She has bent the Orb’s energies to her will, channeling the essence of fire to create [this] Legendary Fiery Weapon" - weapon he used to expand his power and overcome Riya's threat. Having lost all her power, Riya descended to the Alterra and with all her might has cursed the said weapon with "life" hoping that the wielder of the said weapon will grew tired of evilness and reborn anew.

Written description of the weapon: Because the players of Pocket Legends are getting stronger everyday, Silknight had her trusty henchmen come forth with an even stronger staff. The Scarlet Rose was discovered within Alterra's deepest caverns, and took years to unveil. It deals a great amount of damage and with each hit comes the chance of extra FIRE damage. Name: Silknights deadly fire staff
Description: During a long battle, Silknight got wounded, he retired to a cave where noone could find him. But he was'nt wasting his time: The evil Silknight created this staff to enslave Alterra. He created this weapon using all his power and might, so it could burn anything its way.

P.S.: I wanted this staff to be able to be designed easily, ofcourse you guys can add some extra textures or some shiny stars coming out of its end like the "Nature rod of fate".

Unbeknown to Silknight and her minions, the Orbs of Nature's purity can never be fully corrupted, and the weapons she has created to arm her army, have a hidden secret. When created each weapon has a secret ability to be re-crafted using special rare gems which can be found around Forest Haven and the surrounding areas. There are several different types of rare gems which, when crafted, each award a different special bonus to the host weapon. Each base weapon can only be re-crafted once, with one single gem. Silknight and her minions have no knowledge of this special ability that has been bestowed on these weapons by the Orbs of Nature, so if your lucky enough to come into possession of one of these base weapons, lets keep it that way.

ITEM NAME: Enkindled Staff of Nature

The design i've chosen has much to do with my lack of drawing skills but also it is actually meant to be fairly simple, as these are lvl10 weapons. The base weapon comes with no orb/gem at the end of the weapon, but it can be crafted with any of the crafting gems (Power Gem, Hawkeye Gem, Gladiator Gem, Presto's Gem, Focus Gem & Magic Gem) to give the host weapon a small specific bonus. I think this will positively introduce crafting to new and low level players and add not only a new weapon for each class but a reason to collect more than one.

The crafted weapons will be an entirely different weapon instance, but the same model with a coloured orb/gem in the empty space of the base weapon. When re-crafted the orb/gem will be appropriately coloured to match the appropriate Gem used. The additional stats would clearly be related to the Gem used. I haven't included my thoughts on the actually exact numbers as I'm not sure what weighting should be attributed, but I suspect something like 1-2 M/S or H/S, or 1-2 Armour or 1-2 STR/INT/DEX, or 1-2 Hit%, or 1-2 Crit%. Finally the naming of the newly crafted weapon would follow the same theme as the host name and the gem used. So, Enkindled Sword of Natural Power, Enkindled Crossbow of Natural Focus & Enkindled Staff of Natural Magic.

description: Deep down in the now extinct volcanoes of Alterra, there lived the most powerful firey weapons creator the land has NEVER known. He was a red hot but gentle volcanic golem that crafted firey weapons as a hobby and always kept them to himself. He made these weapons from the fire & lava of these volcanoes and rare exotic volcanic gems found deep beneth them using his powers to fuse all the elements together, he went by the name of Sparx. After discovering the horrific power of one of sparx's stolen weapons, Silknight sent forth her evil minions to find this powerful volcanic golem and capture him at any cost, destroying anyone and anything that crossed their path, as she wanted to use his powers to create firey weapons of her own to rule the lands of alterra. After months of hunting and pillaging, the minions finally tracked Sparx down in an old abandoned volcanic gem mine looking for rare elements. Not knowing of the situation that he was involved in, Sparx was ambushed and although he gave a good fight, he was vastly outnumbered and overwhelmed by the minions having no choice to surrender. The minions brought Sparx back to Silknights castle and there she tried to force him to create her firey weapons of destruction, but knowing of the evil and destruction these weapons would unleash he refused to do any of her bidding. Silknight was enraged by his refusal and imprisoned Sparx to die in her castle. One night Silknight brewed a spell and crafted a wand out of volcanic stone, gems and the lava in which Sparx was created in, she then imprisoned him in it. In the end, Sparx didnt create any firey weapons for Silknight, instead he became the most powerful firey weapon ever known to alterra and see first hand the evil that Silknight was capable of.............
