Can you also test this on 3G as well? Curious to see if the iPhone has that lag on wifi only or also with 3G. Because if it was an iPhone 4 issue, we could try to narrow it down to the iPhone 4 being the problem or just it's wifi chip.
Okay so yeah this seems weird. In limited testing, this does not seem to happen at all on my old, semi-broken 1st gen iPod Touch, but happens regularly with my 4th gen. So could it be an issue with newer devices only? I really hope some kind of resolution is possible because it is truly ruining my gameplay experience...
If it is 4th Gen iOS devices, then maybe it is the retina display graphics that were updated in the game client? I don't know. But then wouldn't it happen 100% of the time if that were so?
weird, i live in australia so I NEVER get green lag and yet im not getting these spikes. Just make sure you don't play too far away from your modem. in my house there's pretty much a line, an if you cross it, the spikes begin.
Im sitting next to my WIFI, approx 3ft and do get bad ping only with the Iphone4 not the Iphone3G. I shall try with the 3G connection later on, today Im at work and I didnt bring my Iphone4 only the "old" Iphone3Gs
Btw, are the Devs reading and thinking about this problem?
Royce, not sure if you tried my suggestion yet, but this totally solved my ping spikes on the iPad (for a least slightly technical people)
1)Log into your router.
2) Change the ip ending range from '2-254' to '2-250' for DHCP connections.
3) On your iPad or iPhone, change the ip method from DHCP to manual address.
4) Set the iPad / iPhone ip Address to end in 251.
This should prevent your router giving out a conflicting address. Let me know if this helps anyone else.
