Gear progression?

Hi,

So currently my GF and I are stuck around lvl 52, still wearing the pink free leveling gear for lvl 40, which should be good till 45 I guess. We both play smurfs.

Game introduces us to the auctions and crafting, but it doesn't really tell you what role it plays in gear progression, or how you advance using those features.
For example, to craft, you need both recipes and materials, and who knows where to get what, and stuff that makes sense for you?
In regards to auctions, is it just a matter of generating currency enough to buy stuff, that others could not use, and then put up for auction, or?
Is it not possible to grind gear from mobs at your current level, to see upgrades?

If I want to progress my gear, away from the pink starter gear at lvl 40-50, where do I begin?
Do I attempt to craft, grind or gather currency for buying at the auctions?

Grind for tokens/gear straight from maps, don't buy gear at auction until endgame unless it's super cheap (1-10k)

Yep, limit yourself to like 1-5k per piece until endgame and until you have time to sit around and do gear research.

Check the npc vendors in the towns for various gears. Check chests and wear whatever better stuff you encounter. Just normal pinks should be fine for leveling. Maybe start collecting some jewels, like Weak Minds for example, and slowly upgrade as you go. Don't forget to move your jewels from old equips to new ones.
