Ancient planar essence = you use it to cleanse the 3 bosses essence/gem from planar arena, eg. glob rutger and frostir.
Planar Fragments = like dragkin tooth that you need to buy from the planar...

That being said, if you have a heart problem ( medically ) dont even try going in there.. It will make your heart problems worst. ( ankh revives and disconnection issues )

If the weapons will be upgraded there should be a corresponding recipe for that. but as far as i know theres no such recipe at this time. ( who knows maybe its another hidden thing in game )
