    Default How rude!!

One thing I dont understand is that when someone selling something and you ask how much in which they respond with "offer" what are they hoping is said? For example today i seen some guy spamming selling this and that in which I ask how much? Ok? And he responds with "offer" so I make an offer, a slightly lowball-ish offer (400k below cs on 2 mil item) and he responds with "bye". Now my question is (bare in mind item is 2m on cs) what are these ppl hoping for me to say? Ill pay 2.1? I just dont get it. Isnt it easier to just counter? My problem is I was raised to be respectful with manners. And they say that people reveal there true selves in the form of fantasy characters. If this is true, is our world screwed? Because this is very common. Sry for the rant but seeing this type of behavior and attitude really irritates me. You can tell me to toughen up, but this is really disappointing.

For some people 400k is alot. It's like there's this set worth 3m and you offer 2.4m the guy asks himself what could he buy if he posted each item (let's say it's a 1h set 4 piece) 25k less than cs, and everything sells that would be 500k (think about the sets/items you could buy with that) loss if he were to sell for 2.4m. Anyways, if you were looking to put an actual use to the item you were looking to buy rather than merching, I think you could have just increased your offer a bit and see what the guy said.

So true, which is why I decided a long time ago to save my time and patience and just sell everything through the CS instead of trying to sell in towns or on the forums. People used to negotiate, but not anymore. Not to sound like the old fart that I am, but I think it has to do with a greater percentage of players these days being younger, and they don't really understand the concept of haggling yet. Wait till you buy a car for the first time, kids....

When Merching, expect to see all kinds of people.

If you're buying items, there will be competition, negotiation, and expect some people to be.. well.... Jerks.

On the other hand, if you are selling items, expect some people to lowball your price, and to go with the flow of the market prices. Expect merchants to be mass PMing you, and be wary of trolls.

Other then this basic tips, that should be pretty much it for merching.

Advanced tips include alternating the flow of a certain item price, buying soon-to-be discontinued items, and so on and so forth.

When they tell you to offer theyʻre gauging what youʻre willing to price outright, rather than them telling you what youʻll be paying. Itʻs a smart tactic because sometimes people wonʻt know what to say so theyʻll end up over paying or at least paying more than the seller originally wanted. Despite being smart for the seller, its highly annoying for the buyer to have to deal with people who donʻt set prices for the items theyʻre trying to sell and the sellers often lose sales because of it.

I always used to have a set price for my items that I sell without CS, but I've had to start saying "Offer", mainly because if I said the price, most people would leave, even when I told them to counter offer.

Mainly some people say "offer" is to see what you would offer them for an item. They don't want to make their price so high that the buyer would leave, but not too low that they lose too much money.
Why they say bye? I dont know..

They are expecting within 95-100% near the CS price.
400k off of 2M is essentially 80% of the price.

It's hard for players who joined after Mount Fang to admit that CS is overpriced- they never witnessed days when the market was poor.
That said, you're better off looking on CS for mislistings rather than trying to buy discounted items.

Agreed. It's their item, so they can ask for an offer as they wish. If you don't want to give one, then don't (I typically don't). If you want the item badly enough, you'll throw out a number, maybe even more than what the seller initially had in mind if he's lucky. End of the day, it's his item he's selling, he shouldn't have to give a price.

This rant wasnt about his unwillingness to sell me the item for a low price it was his response to my "offer" that this thread is about, but I disagree about it being resonable to not wanna give a price. Yes its his item. If you want cs price, put it on cs. Thats how I feel. Only because a mojority of the time ppl spamming selling this and that will be willing to sell 15-20% off.

Generally people that spam in towns view the CS as a "recommended price" board rather than a place to sell items and they instead sit in the town spamming as they feel this will help get the item off their hands quicker.

In my opinion, if they want to sell their items at 90-100% CS price, they shouldn't be spamming in Balefort. -.-
